First...I know this is not a macro photo. I was watering tonight and saw this battalion of bugs on my Ash tree. Can anyone tell me what they are? And will they kill my tree and other plants, Too? My granddaughter knows how to use her iphone and Google to identify things, but, alas, she's away for the rest of the month. I appreciate in advance the help.

Thank you all! The funny thing is, here in the desert of central New Mexico, there's not a cabbage plant in a hundred miles. I'll take care of them in the morning. Thanks again.
