Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been bumped or dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try. Make sure battery is fully charged before you start.
Turn off the camera. Place it on the back with the lens facing up and take a look at the spacing between the lens and the lens housing. If you notice that the gap is not even all the way around the lens, the problem should be easy to fix. This type of a problem usually occurs if the camera was dropped while the lens was extended. Simply - VERY GENTLY - press down the lens on the side where the gap is the biggest. You should hear a “click” as it pops back into place. Try powering the camera back on.May have to do it several times.

I had the same problem with my Canon EF 75 - 300 mm 1:4-5.6 zoom lens. Seeing that there isn't any camera shop in my community I had to send it off to Canon. I think that would be your best bet.

You'd be best off going with Canon. They've got the right parts and the expertise. And they stand behind their work. I've always had good luck with them.

When in doubt. If you're going to deal with a merchant whom you're unfamiliar with. And who is a long distance from you, Here are two websites you can look up. Check them out with the Better Business Bureau. There is also another website which is good to access, "Ripoff Report" That website has saved me from a lot of expensive mistakes.

I can understand what you're going through. I working on a gig right now for which I grossly undercharged the client. I'm too embarrassed to post what I charged him. But its all my fault for not paying close attention to his directions. As for your situation, If your shoot requires the quality for media promotion. I wouldn't charge any less than $1500. And make sure that you client and their models sign model releases for your own protection.

As for my situation I've spent most of my working life ins sales. And I've always put scruples and integrity first before profit. Therefore I see upping the price that I initially quoted as "bait-and-switch" that's something that a shyster used car salesman would do. What I'm going to do is to tell the client that I misunderstood what this job would entail. So, in all honesty I won't demand any more than what I quoted. But if you believe that the job is worth more than I'm charging I'll leave whatever action you'd like to take will be strictly up to you.

To have your photos processed professionally you can't go wrong with Shutterfly. They've always done a great job processing my photos. I heard about Shutterfly from my doctor. The photos on his office wall you'd swear they were taken with a Hasselbladt. I asked him what kind of camera he used. He told me they were taken with a simple point-and-shoot.

I have both a full frame and a crop sensor, (Canon 6D and 7D). The problem I have with full frame is, when I use wide angle lenses there is too much vignetting. So, when I shoot wide angle I can only use crop sensor. Is there any way I can effectively shoot wide angle on full frame?

I'd hate to see that day come. if such a technology were to happen it would take all the creativity out of the art form. For example. Imagine a musical instrument that plays by itself.

I have only edited jpeg files and I think I’d like to try working with RAW files...or NEF for my Nikon.
I’ve seen Lightroom, Photoshop, GIMP and several others but they are either a monthly fee, steep learning curve or just too many unknowns.
I’d appreciate it if you can give me a recommendation. Somewhat computer savvy but PS is a challenge.
Thanks in advance...

For editing RAW files I use ON1. It is great and user friendly.

If you're in a situation where you have to buy your photo equipment from a franchise department or electronics store, I've had very good luck with Best Buy. I've bought from them in Albuquerque, NM and Odessa, TX. Grant it. They carry some grey market merchandise, mostly in minor components, like straps and lens caps. But when it comes to cameras and lenses, and flash attachments, you get the real. And best of all in both cities the camera department was staffed by very knowledgeable personnel.

I lived in Los Angeles for eight years and if I ever see that city again it will be too soon, (but that's neither hear nor there). But Los Angeles is where I first cut my teeth on photography back in the days of film only. When I lived there, my favorite places to shoot at this time of year were the canyons in the Santa Monica Mountains between West LA and The Valley, Topanga and Tuna Canyons, Laurel and Coldwater Canyons. And let's not forget Mulholland Drive. Also, right after a big rain storm you can get great shot of the rough surf along the beaches from Santa Barbara to San Diego. I remember getting some really good one's from Redondo Pier. The sun would reflect off the spray from the rough waves and there were little rainbows which could be seen all the way down the beach. Remember too. In fall and winter the beaches aren't as crowded. Keep an open mind and you'll get some real good shots.

I am a real estate photographer. Personally I have never doctored a photo to blot out defects to make the house look better than it already is. And I have been assigned to shoot properties that have considerable damage. I bring it up to the client. And I ask him how he's going to advertise the property. And in every case I've run into. I'm told that he's pitching it as an investment property. In your case the property you've looked as is being sold by an unscrupulous realtor. If you're thinking about legal action, you probably don't have a case. My advice to you is when you are house hunting, don't look at any properties that are listed by that realtor.

My hobby is photography and I live in Costa Rica. My hobby allows me to volunteer at many events were lots of disadvantaged younger people attend. I take pictures, have this printed and give the prints to these people. It makes them happy, and me possible happier.
There is one particular school down in one of the many valleys where there is a school with only 30 students, from kindergarten to grade eight. Uniforms are passed on to younger siblings, schoolbooks are a prized possession. Three teachers with hearts of gold!
I have been taking portraits of these kids in the past years and go again later this week. I have been using a Sony 50mm F/2.8 Macro and I found the results pretty good. However, I often read about photographers using a longer lens for portraits, which brings me to the question what other lens could I possible use. I have in my arsenal a.o. a Sony 70-300G SSM f4.5-5.6 and a Sony 24-70 mm F2.8 ZA SSM Carl Zeiss. I mount these on a Sony A99ii. Any advice on any of these 3 lenses? Thank you.

What you're doing for those kids is nothing short of a mitzvah! I admire you for that and God will honor that.

I too am having cataract surgery in the not too distant future. Here's my cause for concern. The famous French artist, Claude Monet had cataract surgery. After the operation he looked at his paintings and he did not like what he saw. So, I'm going through a bit of anxiety over what my photos will look like after I have my operation.
