If given the choice what is better for macro photograhy, or is there a difference? 90D or 6D Mark ll. Thanks.

It is generally thought that cropping is an advantage with macro work and the higher pixel density of the 90D would therefore be preferred.

Diligence is the mother of good luck. Having a cropped-sensor camera is like dating your cousin.

And yet I can bet that you at one time owned a cropped sensor camera.

Will - I don't know much about pixel density and a host of other photographic nuances but I know what gives me my best results. I own both a crop and a full frame Nikon (D500 and D810). Of those two I like my D500 for macro photography. Primarily because I need to crop less to get the image I want.

The crop will give you a narrower field of view and correspondingly greater working distance and greater depth of field. On the other hand, the 32 mp will result in a pixel density that may make the images more prone to showing noise at lower ISO than the 26 mp 6D.

This article talks about detail (excellent), noise (not so good) and jpeg noise reduction (there goes all of your fine detail because of aggressive noise reduction)

I would suggest that the 'technical' difference between the two (crop/full) with respect to the finished image is about 0.00005% of the overall attributes that make an image great.

My cousin lived in the trailer next to me. For some reason she was off limits for dating.

With macro I find the lens more important than the camera. I use a 105 or a 60mm and sometimes a ring light on my Nikon and a steady support when possible.
