I wanted to use my newish laptop last night, and I got hit by a password storm. I wish I were able to opt out of passwords. Yes, I use a PW manager - LastPass - but it doesn't always work, depending on the site. Of course, when I want to run LastPass, it wants a password, so I'm dead in the water right away. Then I needed passwords for the computer, calendar, email, and several other things. Using the same word for everything would be easy, but not very secure. I've tried different systems to develop and remember passwords, but nothing works. I've been using computers for about forty years, and I've accumulated over 300 passwords, with many of the companies no longer in business. Some have no provision for changing the words.

Using Hibernate is a good way to avoid needing a password to get the computer running, but it doesn't work with Apple.
