It seems like you're doing a excellent job with the combo you have, but f2.2 would be tempting.

Wow, lots of activity. I hate when trees jump in front of the camera.

Second trip to Yosemite recently. Specifically to shoot the famous Firefall event, which happens 2n and 3rd week every February. With only 50% snowfall and weather issues, I was feeling it was unlikely to happen. I got in position 6 hours early to make sure I had a spot. It was scary with on and off cloud cover most the day. But I hung in there to the end with hundreds of not well over a thousand photographers. The sky opened as the sun was settimg at just the right angle to create the glow in the falls and was able to use all 12 min of shooting time.

As for me I bought the best filter I could afford to last until the next similar eclipse in 2044. I'll only be 94 and ready for a long drive.

The last week we had our youngest grandson visiting. While at the new playground near us I took wide angle shots looking west and east.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Love the mountains around Salt Lake. These show them off nicely.

Great shots of the 2017 eclipse. I hope it will be clear for the upcoming eclipse.

Me too, but unfortunately I won't be able to attend their one. I'll just be watching for your pix

Considering all the strikes against you, this came out very well.

I'm just remembering the 2017 Great American Eclipse of 2017. I wish I could post a video of the moment when people could remove the eye protection. The first is my version of the Diamond Ring, with Rubies on both sides, then just after the ring where the prominence took front stage, then the Corona.

Don’t forget, we are the generation trying to deal with the results of our several generations’ dependence on fossil fuels for our energy needs. We could continue to use fossil fuels, and expend tremendous time and money mitigating (if it is even possible) their detrimental environmental impacts but they are not an unlimited resource. What do we do when their scarcity is so dire we cannot afford them? While recycling lithium batteries is a costly process, it pales in comparison to the costs of mitigating or dealing with the environmental impacts of an ever increasing use of fossil fuels.

We cannot just sit on our hands and do nothing to change the trajectory of our dependence on fossil fuel energy sources.

I have no problem developing new technologies, but it will take time. Every type of energy storage or source has its pitfalls, but we might not understand the negative impacts they have on us or the earth for many decades in the future. I say use the oil, but always find ways to make it cleaner and conserve as much as practical. Solar and wind help, but they will never be as productive as fossil fuels

One other thing to keep in mind is to make sure that you take the time during totality to step away from the camera and just look and enjoy the sensation of the eclipse. If all you do is tend the shutter you will miss out on an amazing experience. Afterwards you can get to play with what you captured.

I can attest to this. I was engrossed in capturing the 2017 Great American Eclipse, when all of a sudden I realized I was missing out. I looked up at totality and the first thing I saw was a black hole in the sky. Then I looked around at all the people going crazy, hooting and hollering. It will give you chills if it's your first total eclipse. Oh yea, it does get cooler at totality.

Thank you very much alberio for stopping by to take a look.

While I live just a few blocks from the downtown area I seldom go there unless it is to the courthouse, my insurance agent or a fly fishing shop. But I did look up Carsten's Bakery and I see they, of course, sell doughnuts. I have never met a doughnut I wouldn't eat. I may have to stop by to take a look. Thanks in advance for the extra pounds.
