The Idaho Falls Mormon Temple

Since moving to Idaho Falls I have wanted to photograph this temple from the front. I have posted a few photos across the Snake River toward the back but not any from the front I can recall. While driving past a couple of days ago I noticed the lighting was perfect for a high key photograph, I think that is what it is called, where the color of the sky closely matched the color of the temple. I went home to get my Sony RX10IV and tripod and came back. I only live about six blocks from the temple so it isn't as if photo opportunities do not present themselves often.
While taking photos of the temple I noticed a man and his wife walking toward one of the entrances. I greeted them and asked if they would please be in one of my photos for the human interest part. They said they would love to do that. Yes I have sent them photos for their kindness.

Very nice pictures, Dennis. Personally, I think I would prefer the couple walking by rather than posing.

One of my friends also suggested having the couple posing but looking at the temple rather than at me. All of the above would certainly have worked and next time I will give a try to your suggestion and my friend's suggestion as well. I do like yours very much. Thanks for taking a look and for voicing your opinion.

Yes on the one in Salt Lake City but it was about 11:00 at night and my wife at the time were driving non stop from
Canon City, CO to the Los Angeles area back in maybe 1989 or so to attend a wedding. It sure was beautiful all lit up at night. They are beautiful buildings from the few I have seen.

Well darn the bad luck. I live about 10 blocks from the other side of the river where I am assuming but could be wrong from the excellent ram statue photo you are showing. There are some statues on both sides of the river in that area. Next time you might be in the area please let me know. The Mexican restaurant, Jalisco's right on the corner of the West side of the river and Broadway is pretty good.

I take photos of so many other things, I often overlook one of my favorite areas: Architectual and design. I am glad you have picked up some of the slack

I like these two shots a lot, Dennis. The people add scale in the first one but I prefer the second one for its " purity'" without them...nothing but a personal preference.

Thank you very much black mamba. You hit the nail on the head for my personal reasons for each photo. I wanted some human scale and a human touch in the one and as you put it, a pure just plain temple for the other.
