Here's my effort Bob.

Done in Lightroom with a "Dragan Intense" preset to give it a grunge look.
Converted to B&W and adjusted the curves and green channel for the contrast as the contrast was already at 100%.
In the second, I slid the Dehaze slider to +24 and in the third to -29.
Love the Dehaze tool.

Alan.

I went out last night to shoot the sunset and do some long exposure shots. One of my favorite places is Hopewell Virginia. These were shot at Hopewell marina and the Benjamin Harrison bridge. On one of the shots I stacked 2 filters those filters were Hoya variable neutral density filter and my FLW from Adorama. I know some of you do not like the variables but I use mine all the time. The only other one own is a 9 stop Hoya. I did not use that one last knight. I hope you enjoy them. On the last shot if you download you will also see the light trail from the cars going across the bridge. A pretty cool shot?

The only real hitch I had was my plug in's from Anthropics. Both Portrait Pro and Smart Photo Editor asked for the licence key # before I could continue, which meant looking back through my emails. Everything else e.g. On One, Topaz, Alien Skin etc, worked no bother.

I've been running it for a couple of days seams to work fine with everything I've thrown at it. Not tried linking it to the xbox yet and have a few other tests to do. On the face of it, it doesn't seam much different fom win8 but I like what I've seen so far.
As for using my information I'm not that bothered, I've got nothing to hide

I just purchased a Hoya Pro1 Circular polarizing filter for my Nikon P900. My question is....Do I put it on and off my camera as needed or do I always leave it on. I am concerned about having it on at all times.

Let me start by saying welcome to the hog Michael652.
If you can get past the negative replies, you will find some very good and helpful advice on this forum.

The Hoya Pro1 is an excellent filter and as Longshadow stated, is used mainly for eliminating glare from water and glass and enhancing the sky.

The downside is you loose between one to one and a half stops of light so it is not an ideal filter to keep on your lens all the time. Experiment - Digital is cheap and I am sure you will be happy with the results you get.

Hope you stick around and remember, there is no such thing as a daft question - only stupid answers.

A funeral procession pulled into a cemetery. Several carloads of family members followed a black truck towing a boat with a coffin in it.

A passer-by remarked, "That guy must have been a very avid fisherman."

"Oh, he still is," remarked one of the mourners. As a matter of fact, he's headed off to the lake as soon as we bury his wife."

I bought LR presets from Mike Newton of Hacking Photography. $10 for the first bunch, then $27 for a lot more. I really love them. Saves me so much time. I've mostly used the $10 first set.

You can do a Google search for him and I just found that he is offering a small selection for free so you could try them out.

He is also on Facebook.

I use these and he has an offer on at the moment. Love them!

Dragan Inspired Presets is another of my favourites.

Remember that these presets are a starting point. You can see a preview of the effects generated by the preset and when you find one you like, apply it.
You can tweak the finishing adjustments to suit your image from there. Save you hours

The answer is that you will NOT get the same shot. The photograph will have the same perspective but on the DX camera, the photo will be sized as if you used a longer lens.

Lens focal length is a measurement of the lens. A 50mm lens is always a 50 mm lens. But, on a DX Nikon, the field of view has been reduced from what you would expect from a full frame camera by about 2/3. Why does that happen? It's because the sensor (think film negative if that helps) is only about 2/3 the size of a full 35 mm negative.

Try thinking of something old school. Set up a picture screen that measures 36 inches wide by 24 inches high. Now, take a slide projector and project an image that is 36 inches wide by 24 inches high. It will fill the screen.

Now, take another screen that measures 18 inches high and 24 inches wide. Obviously, the projected photo will not fill the screen. You have used the same projector lens, the same slide, and the same distance between the projector and the screen. BUT only about 2/3 of the slide will show up on the screen.

This is exactly what happens with a DX camera vs. a Full frame camera.

I hope this explainaton helps.

This is one of the best examples I have seen on this subject. A 50mm lens is a 50mm lens whatever camera you put it on. The lens is the constant.
The variant is the size of the sensor in the various camera bodies. It is the sensor that records the image, not the lens.
