As always your opinions based on your experience will be much welcome:

Do lenses (300 PF) need to be adjusted for back or front focus?

If you read between the lines, it's not worth it ... You can buy more camera or the same 16MP for a whole lot less. What do you envision shooting at 11 fps vs the capabilities of the D500 or D850?

I wouldn't say it isn't worth it, I have the D4 which is fabulous in low light, it also is built like a tank and can take punishment.

I don't think so. The vultures I photographed are turkey vultures and had a red head.

This was a shocker. I bought some pina colada mix, and reached up to get the bottle of rum. It was just about empty! Now I'll have to leave the house and drive to the liquor store. It will be worth it, though.

Lucky you don't live in the South you would have to go to the ABC store which are far and few between.

Is anyone else experiencing a precipitous drop in deliveries or late deliveries? We have had ONE delivery this week and none last Saturday in our neighborhood. Having lived at this address for >50 years, this is unprecedented. We LOVE our mail carrier, and I have to believe this is due to the recent cut in staffing, hours and equipment (7 mail sorting machines were removed from the Charlotte NC distribution center in the last few weeks without explanation). Is the intent to cripple the service to justify its dismemberment? If you’re having a similar experience, have you emailed or called your Senators and Congressmen in addition to your local postmaster? (I have) In my opinion, this is an outrage of national proportion.

I live in Cary and have experienced missing mail, 3 times my doctor tried to send me a prescription through the mail and it never arrived. I am also receiving a lot of other peoples mail, and when I write on the envelop wrong address and stick it in the mail box it comes right back to me.

1954 VF-61 NAS Oceana, various carriers. We were reading "I Flew for the Fuehrer" Being obviously a Kraut, my handle for life became Luft, shortened after a time from Luftwaffe. (Pfeiff = pipe, so jet fighters). In family I am Grandpa Luft. Thanks.

My mother was born in Berlin in 1914 and left for England at the start of the war with my brother and sister (my father was already in England), I was born in Scotland and when I was 10 years old immigrated to the USA with my parents. During the Veietnam war I served in the Army in Schwetzingen Germany 17 miles out of Heidelberg, best tour of duty to have. I loved Germany and its people.

A major observation missing in this thread relates to how different individual's vision can be:

IT IS ALL IN THE MIND. THE WORLD IS NOT COLORED!

The rays of light entering the visual system vary in wavelength and frequency as well as intensity. These do not represent color. The rays are not colored. Evolution has produced a human visual system that presents us the phenomenon of color in the mind by responding differentially to variations over a limited range of electro-magnetic rays. No one can know what anyone else experiences as color or intensity. The concept of correct color is a fiction based on perceptions based on high levels of the bell-shaped-curve of normal distribution.

I have mentioned before that everything you "know" is wrong.

Sporadically I have seen mention by an UHH-er having color blindness. Since I do not have this myself, I cannot speak about it. However, I think that this is a serious situation that would benefit further discussion. I am sure that the topic may have been approached in the past. It would be good to help the many of us to be brought up to date.

Any and all commentary will be appreciated.

I am shade blind and use the auto correct feature in Photoshop CC to correct for my handicap. I am Deuteranomaly which can be corrected by most high end editors.

Not in my workflow. You may try it and have good results. Night scene lighting can be simple, like a moonlight landscape, or it can be complex, where the lighting is a combination of lighting from streetlights, store displays, LED billboards, stadium lighting, etc, and often the lights are IN the scene - making hand-held meters awkward to use. Having a sense of what constitutes correct exposure even before you press the shutter helps. Combining that with real-time test shooting and review is almost always going to be better than a hand held meter.

Here is a great article on the topic:

http://www.fredparker.com/ultexp1.htm

Towards the bottom of the page there is an EV-based exposure calculator for typical scenes ranging from EV -6 to +23. The highest EV for all intents and purposes is +16 - which would be midday sun at the beach or on snow.

Thank you, I find this helpful (and saving the cost of the meter).

It was a pencil sketch done out of boredom many years ago (1/9/2002 & 5/5/2002). I took a scan and posted it on a page i used to have. These here were actually a de-colored copy of a colored copy of a screen capture copy of the original web post.

I cleaned some of the JPEG artifacts up a bit in Photoshop prior to posting here.

No matter what you did, I like it.
