As the title says we are getting ready for an upcoming trip and I am unable to carry my canon 5d and assorted lens around. So I am looking to purchase a good Sony rx 10 iv for the trip if anyone would like to sell one in good condition.
Thank you for looking.

Here is another application of Color Grading where I went back in on an original portrait (on the left) and added orange to the highlites and blue to the shadows.

This was easy. My original pic of this Chimp (on the left) had always bothered me because being a Chimp he didn't look like he was in color and there was nothing I could think of doing about it. But in the new Adobe Camera Raw I added blues to the shadows and yellow to the highlights in the Camera Raw COLOR GRADING tab and it seems satisfying to me now.

Some of you have seen my post about losing 1/2 of my pictures on my recent trip. That was really hard to take. I'm still working on it. But I'd like to share some of my pictures with you.

We were in the Andes mountains of Ecuador doing medical missions. Each day we'd go to a different village, set up shop and see and treat everyone who came. Most days we treated about 250 people (which is, in some cases, the entire village). The scenery is beautiful. The people are gracious. The climate was yucky - cold and WET!

Great series, Jack. It was worth the running around.

Over this last weekend, we had a big event at the Superstition Mountain Museum, in Apache Junction, AZ. We had several Native American vendors selling everything from jewelry, to weaving, to paintings, to carvings, etc. Along with that, we had entertainers doing the traditional Indian Hoop Dancing and food vendors. It's one of the museum's largest annual festivals.

As a Volunteer at the museum, my responsibility is to photograph the events which will be used for postings in Social Media, newsletters and on their website. I pretty much ran myself ragged trying to keep up with all the activities. One of the groups was from the Mandan Tribe in North Dakota, who drove down here just to participate in the two-day event.

Here's a mix of some of my photos from the busy weekend:

Film isn't analog, it's digital.

If a negative or slide is scanned in order to print, even if on photographic emulsion paper,
the process is no longer all analog. It's a hybrid process.

The whole point in using film is keeping it analog, start to finish.

If I was going to digitize film, I'd just shoot digital and save the unnecessary cost of the film.

I can, and have fooled a photography friend of mine, make a digital photograph look like film. I can't go the other way, though. I do like using film. There are things I can do with film that I cannot replicate with digital. The reverse is also true.

I grew up with film from late 1959 to 2007. I quit using film in 2005, primarily because I'd just guided a major lab through the film-to-digital transition, and knew what I needed to know to do what I want to do with digital.

Fast forward to 2018... I started digitizing all my old film for a major project... a 45-minute video at my 45th class reunion (Davidson College, 1977). I started scouring YouTube to find out what others were doing, and came up with my solutions.

Meanwhile, I found some tremendous resources. Karin Majoka is one of them. She's a German film photographer who really knows her stuff. In this episode of her vlog/podcast, she discusses an iPhone app that simulates "The Film Look." (It is in English.)

I just watched it. If you give even a small damn about film, and own a late model iPhone, you should watch the video. It's... interesting.

I'll post the link below, so it doesn't get sent to the Tomb of Links and Resources.

Ken, first off, I'm glad you and your wife are ok. I hope the same can be said for your neighbors.

As for the damage photos, it's incredible what a blast of wind can do.

I have been offline for a few days because a tornado (f2) tore through my neighborhood. I got lucky as the main winds were a little north of me. I have a few large limbs down and the power was off for three days. These images are just a sampling of what we have here. I took these as I was leaving to stay at my mother's home until the power came back on. I will post more as I take them. 1/8 of a mile made a lot of difference for me and my wife. If it's not too windy I will try to get some drone shots.

Why don't you just learn how to take and make a photograph instead of looking for equipment to do that for you?

Would you rather be the artist or try to take credit for equipment doing that for you?

Tae a fart

Oh what a sleekit horrible beastie,
Lurks in yer bellie efter a feastie,
Just as ye sit doon among yer kin
There starts to stir an enormous wind.

The neeps and tatties and mushy peas
Start working like a gentle breeze
But soon the pudding wi' the sauncie face
Will hae ye blawin' a' ower the place

Nae matter whit the hell ye dae
a'body's gonnae hae tae pay
Even if ye try tae stifle
it's like a bullet oot a rifle

Hawd yer bum ticht tae the chair
Tae try tae stop the leakin' air
Shift yersel fae cheek tae cheek
Pray tae god it disnae reek

But a' the efforts go asunder
Oot it comes like a clap o' thunder
Ricochets arrond the room
Michty me! a sonic boom

God almighty it fairly reeks
A' hope a' huvnae shit ma breeks
Tae the bog a' better scurry
Whit the hell, it's no ma worry

A'body roon aboot me choakin'
One or two are nearly boakin'
I'll feel better for a while
Cannae help but raise a smile

It wis him! I shout and glower
Alas too late, he's just keeled ower
Ye dirty bugger! They shout and stare
I'm no that welcome any mair

Where e're ye go let yer wind gang free
That sounds jist the joab fir me
Whit a fuss at Rabbie's party
Ower the sake o' one wee farty.

Looking for a Nikon AF-S 200-400 f4G IF-ED VR in good to excellent condition. I know this is a big, heavy lens that probably doesn’t see as much usage as compared to any of the new “pf” lenses. So Hoggers who have one probably have it stashed away in their lens cabinets and rarely trot it out to use. Perhaps someone who would like to move to mirrorless would be willing to trade that lens for a Nikon Z6 with a 24-70 S lens +/- $ ? Just sayin….think it over….can exchange pictures if any interest.
Ok, you’re probably wondering why…right? Well, I’m still loving my D500 and D850 and all the f-mount lenses I have. But I also have the Z6 initial kit as well as the Z6ii. Both Z cameras work very well for me but in the future I know I’m not moving to the Z9. I also know the new Z-mount long lenses (400, 600 and 800s) will remain out of my price range. So, for now I'm sticking with tried and true long Nikon f-mount glass available at reasonable prices.
