An f/1.2 or 1.4 lens isn't all that much advantage over the f/1.8 lens in term of shooting hand held in available darkness.

I opted for the Canon 50mm ƒ1.4, a little more light than the ƒ1.8.
I didn't think the price of the ƒ1.2 was worth it for my usage.

Both Canon and Nikon had them. Nikon had the 250 frames and 750 frames back for the F2. They had the 250 frames back for the F3 but I don't think they had any for the F4 and F5 which have higher frame rate.

I remember those days of the add-on motor and large film magazine.

Didn't Canon have a bulk film back that would take a whole bulk roll of film?
I think for the F-1.

Nice series. When I saw the title, I was trying to think what I would see. My first though was a steam locomotive. I didn't watch the TV series.

And you can't see re-runs. The show was "pulled" from the air.

KEY WORD: Retailer......Sounds to me like his sales are sagging & he needs to make a quick $$$. Ask him to let you to borrow a lens he would recommend....& take a picture.....see for yourself & be the judge...youre the photographer of the image on what you want to see.

The OP stated "professionals", not retailer.
Retailer was an assumption made by a few.
(True for retailers though.)

Not a Canon digital owner but when in playback, sometimes a plus or minus feature will show more photos or get you down to one. Plus usually getting you to one. Minus making the photos smaller displaying more so you can scroll thru them faster to get to a chosen photo.

A nice touch of memorabilia, mvetrano2. Let's not harbor any illusions though, shall we? According to Wikipedia (and other sources), "According to former cast member Ben Jones ("Cooter" in the show), as well as builders involved with the show, 325 General Lees were used to film the series. Others claim about 255 were used in the series. Approximately 17 originals still exist, although in various states of repair. On average, more than one General Lee was used up per show."

Still, it's an icon, albeit one that has drawn the ire of the current crop of offendenistas.

Great photos of a historic car. (Today's "Woke Generation" will want to change the name to the "General Grant"...)

Or just "General"...

I had a black and orange Opel Manta Rally.
I should have put "1/2" on the doors....

The professionals who told you that are idiots. Full frame lenses will work fine on a crop sensor camera and your two current lenses are superior to any crop 18-300 zoom. In fact sticking a crop 18-300 zoom on a D500 would be a step backwards. What these "experts" were referring to was that FF lenses on a crop camera are much bigger, heavier and much more expensive than lenses specifically designed for a crop cameras, and since you are using a crop sensor you are not taking full advantage of the lens' entire image circle. This is all true. However, for you the advantage is that that you will likely see less vignetting, less distortion, and greater sharpness across the frame with your current lenses. Unless you have a good reason to get rid of them, other than the musings of experts, I would keep them.
