People who are hooked on high-end (and costly for many) programs often fail to consider that simple image modifying can be done with good, free and maybe smaller programs..
For Windows, take a look at one called "paint.net". It was created by Microsoft people, though it is not a Microsoft program. It does all the photo modifying that I want to do.

For Windows, Linux and Mac OS X, there's GIMP...a very powerful and free program that is compared very favorably with Photoshop.

I cringe when I encounter people who think Photoshop and its equals are what they HAVE to have to do any photoediting at all, because that's the name they've heard of. When I worked as a computer tech in a school district this was the case all the time. We had to dissuade people who made purchase requests for $500.00+ Photoshop when they could do all they wanted with the Windows-included tools, like the Photos app in Windows 10.

What about other editing programs?

A reason to COPY a file to the computer from the external storage is so that you have the original in its pristine state, in case you screw up in your editing and save the badly-edited file as it is.
Alternately, make a copy of the file wherever it is, do editing on the copy, and if/when you're sure about what you did, then you could delete the original. Or keep the original if you want. You can then do a new edit from the original if ever desired.
In other words, DON'T MODIFY THE ORIGINAL to do editing.

It also depends on how likely you are to drop the tiny microSD card. If one has bigger fingers, keeping it in the adapter and handling the two as a unit could be safer/easier, especially outdoors, in grass, woods, sand or anything other than a nice clean floor.

Has anyone used UsedPhotoPro.com for selling equipment? Also known as Robertscamera.com I have been buying from them for some time and am very pleased with them. I buy 35mm film cameras (I'm a collector), accessories for such, and digital camera accessories. Roberts is a new-camera dealer also.

Well, amfoto1, you're more of a Canon guy than I am!
If anyone wants this knob, it's yours for the asking.

Does anyone know what this little knob is for? I found it in a camera bag containing a Canon DSLR but it doesn't belong to the camera, though it IS a Canon part. It has a little screw with it.

I just bought two hoods for Canon lenses from Movo Photo. https://www.movophoto.com/

They are exact copies of the Canon-recommended hoods for my 18-55 and 28-135 zooms. They fit just fine, and only cost $5.45 each delivered.

See if they have what you need for your Nikons. They also sell a lot of interesting photo accessories. Found out about them thru ebay listings. They use PayPal and I'd rather avoid ebay when possible.

To repeat my reply in another discussion:

The SD Card Association, who creates standards for SD cards, says you shouldn't format SD cards with an OS's formatting tool. Download
their SD Card Formatter app (for Windows and Mac) and see if makes a difference. https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

I've seen compact digital cameras that say NOT to use a computer to format the SD card, only let the camera do it. Maybe this is good advice too.

I can't say what the BEST practice is, but one of these may be the answer.

I just added a profile picture. It's not me. It's Sadie the black Pug. She's my favorite photo subject.

I recommend sticking with a Canon Speedlite for best guarantee of full compatibility. And I recommend getting a used one from a reputable, quality dealer. A new one couldn't justify itself to me for a Rebel T3, pricewise.
Remember that for an EOS Digital camera you want a Canon EX-series Speedlite, ***NOT*** an EZ-series model. EZs were for EOS Film cameras and will not work in auto modes on digital cameras.
Check out ebay. Even better, go to UsedPhotoPro.com (used division of Robertscamera.com). They sell a lot on ebay, but prices on the same items at their own site are lower from what I've seen.
Find it on ebay then go to usedphotopro.com. I've used them a bunch for older flashes, cameras and accessories for my current digitals and my collection of film cameras.
