But, I just got an email from Nikon suggesting I should upgrade to a D7500. They pointed out that it is on sale.

Since you asked, I think you need an 850.

Well, the D7500 deletes the second card slot. That might be a feature you need.

Some people think the D7500 is a downgrade from the D7200.

D850 is another matter... but do you REALLY need full frame AND the bigger, heavier, more expensive lenses you'll need to use with it?

Save you a lot of money buying many cards. Also the 20MP produces smaller files than the 45MP D850 so you don't have to buy large cards. If you use MF lenses it saves you from using any automation so you will be the expert.

This isn't difficult. Compare the features you want and the features you need. Look at your budget. Decide. Don't look back and don't listen to anyone who says you're wrong.

Sometimes we complicate the decision a bit too much!
