What is this part?

Does anyone know what this little knob is for? I found it in a camera bag containing a Canon DSLR but it doesn't belong to the camera, though it IS a Canon part. It has a little screw with it.

I am not certain that's one of them, but some of the Canon Tilt-Shift lenses come with an extra knob, which is a bit larger than the one installed on the lens for the tilt control. The user can switch this out if they wish, because it's easier to grip and use than the smaller knob... But the larger knob will interfere with the pentaprism/built-in flash protrusion on some camera models, in which case the smaller one would be needed.

There is info about switching the knob in section 11, on page 30 of the TS-E 50mm, 90mm, 135mm user manual at http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/2/0300028682/01/tse50-90-135-macro-im-eng.pdf

But this is just a guess.

Well, amfoto1, you're more of a Canon guy than I am!
If anyone wants this knob, it's yours for the asking.

Looks like an adjustment knob from a Manfrotto 3-way tripod head.

Don't you hate it when you tear down an engine and end up with that extra part when you've put it back together that you have no idea what it is?

I think it’s great when I have left over parts and things still work for a long time. Makes me feel like l am a better engineer than they are. Now if I only got paid as much as they do.......,

They will find a spot.
