Great shot. Your title reminded me of the dinner we had on our cruise. I was expecting a giant plateful of food like the one I ate on our last night.

The food was gone early...the view lingered on...

Once the federal government is totally broken and not repairable and China and India are the dominate super powers in the world, our best defense will be to band together in smaller nations of collective states. Then the urban cores will be tossed out to fend for themselves without the tax bases of the producers. Scenes from "Escape from LA" come to mind......

Thank you to all who have commented and worked on the post processing. I am trying to develop my artistic abilities and find that no matter how critical critiques may be, they do provide value. I am flattered to have received so many positive remarks and I appreciate these. I also really appreciate the technical comments and suggestions to process using the wonderful tools we have available to us today. I am becoming more fascinated with light and how it affects images. Thanks again!

Many, even some who are not Christian, believe that an abortion is murder pure and simple as it is taking the life of an unborn, but viable living human being. The courts were first brought in (and we know by who) to decide the definition of living human being. And the ball rolled from there....As a christian I do not believe in abortion except in extreme cases. This crap about using it for birth control is sickening. However, I would not tell another female that she could not have one (As much as I would like to) because that is between that person and God.

So it's "legal" for a woman to abort a fetus because of her right to choose? But it's illegal for her not to use recreational drugs? Isn't it her body? Doesn't she have the choice to do with it what she wants? Jeesh! Nothing but hypocrites! Please enlighten me?

I suggest that everyone on this forum actually go to the exchanges and receive a quote for medical insurance. Make sure you compare it to your current plan. Consider all elements in each plan in a "side by side" analysis. (If you are enrolled in Medicare the comparisons won't be valid so call your kids or your friends and get them to assist you in this quest.) Once you've done this go ask your primary care physician the results of their analysis. Then ask them their opinion on their earnings projections and the level of care they are forecasting they can provide to you. Then look around your community and identify the new health clinics that are starting to pop up that don't take any insurance but charge a flat fee and is paid for by the patient. After all of this sit down and think about the effects this law has on you. Then identify those folks in your community that don't currently have health care insurance and get a quote from your exchange for them. Ask them their opinion then. Once you've accomplished this let all of know what your results are.

This is one of those "I wish I'd taken that" images and so can't be "improved".

Any changes are just artistic interpretations ... and this can inspire a lot of different ones. Is it OK if I download it and try out some pp ideas?

Go for it....

I am sorry but I can only start laughing at the comments here. You truly have no idea of what is being done and why. You fly by the seat of your pants trying to look like experts when you are in effect just like me: an average Joe who is puzzled and angry.

Difference is that instead of getting stuck the 'ball's' of some sphincter politician I try to look at a different level and what I am looking at is far from making me think the WH has ANY room to negotiate with the folks down from the cloak.

You are all 'debating' an issue like there is no 'larger issue' at stake other than the obamacare. There is a big one and THAT is why the WH will not (hopefully) give in and why I hope folks will start to look closely at what is going on and rebel against these crinkled rings in order to flush the toilet on what they excrete and I hope have a radical surgery to resize the rings that are way too large.

You are correct about the average Joe part but as an average Joe yourself how is it you are afforded your opinion wothout critique when you don't allow for the rest of us average Joes? You are a hypocrite.

Are you saying that congress closed the memorial? That they micromanaged this?

Why was the Lincoln Memorial not closed during the 1996 government shutdown? What is the point of closing the WW II monument when it takes extra spending to do so? Doesn't that contradict the reason for the shutdown?

Actually I am saying the administration has ovetstepped common sense and failed in meeting their responsibilities by barracading open air memorials which costs more than leaving them open.

That wasn't the idea behind "justice", Jack, and I think you know that. No, on second thought, you don't know that.

How many starving people do you know, Jack? None? You pay your taxes and feel warm and fuzzy that you've done your part. How much have you done to help those you claim to care so much about, with YOUR OWN time and money, and I don't mean a quarter to a guy on the street? None? Like most self-righteous liberals you bloviate and whine about those evil Republicans, etc., who want he poor to starve, but you aren't doing JACK SHIT!!
Wow! Total agreement! Individuals that can't make it in the USA just aren't trying, unless they are totally incapable due to mental or physical constraints.
If I've pegged you wrong personally, I apologize. I'm harping on most liberal self serving jerks who talk the talk but won't lift a hand in real help. The poor need OPPORTUNITIES. If they choose not to use those opportunities it's their fault and their responsibility, not mine nor yours.

Kennedy was too far right to fit into today's political scene, "Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country." Am I missing something or does that have the ring of personal responsibility to it?

It was then and it should be now all about personal responsibility and the courage to lead properly. Too bad we don't see that in today's President.

The best thing that could happen to the federal government would be the repeal of the 17th Amendment, the founders were wise in the construction of the constitution, much wiser than the fools who destroyed the balance power between the federal government and the states built into the constitution which was destroyed by the 17th.

As a republic the states should be the seat of government power. Although I think there might be some governors who could be "bought" (imagine that!) federal elections except for the office of President (and let's have the next runner up be the VP!) should be declared dead. I agree...repeal the 17th amendment!

She was there on the orders of the administration to close the park, the park is often unmanned but now that the president wants to punish our citizens, it is staffed much heavier than under normal conditions. The fact is that he has increase the spending on personnel at the park during this shutdown.

I think I get it. The administration gets to decide what is good and bad for me, even though the constitution I've study says it's really the Congress that gets to do this......
