Very good Brian, is that what I have to look forward to when I get old?
YEP & more prescriptions than Carter has little liver pills! (Old timers will remember that saying!)

Nice pictures.
What camera / lens did you use?
Thank you rehess! I appreciate that. I used my Canon SX700HS camera at f/6.3, 1/200 sec, ISO 400 and 100mm zoom. I adjusted exposure, & cropped the pics. I used my tripod but was still shooting through a window.

Great shots of this beautiful denizen of our State. Thanks for sharing "my neighbor a little to the south".
Thank you Framer! I love seeing these guys around my area. Very distinctive & handsome. Hope to meet you someday...it's only 280+ miles....hehe

My story does not involve any Tea But is very real & very traumatic.
For weeks I had noticed my tooth brush was sometimes wet when I went to brush. I asked my three year old son if he had used my brush . All I got was a stout denial that he had not brushed his teeth with my tooth brush. This went on for quite a while but I never found the source so I put it in a more secure location & forgot about it.
One day, a couple years later, Danny & I were sitting on the porch discussing everything & anything when out of the blue he popped out with " Hey Dad, remember when I used to brush Snoopy's teeth with your brush?" I gagged & rinsed for hours at the mere thought!!

Thank you Mustanger! John Muir is also a favorite of mine. I love the wilderness and go to the mountains whenever I can. Please download it and enjoy. I'm very flattered that you asked me. My family and friends know what this saying means to me. I am going to do a metal print of it. Terri
Thank you thank you Terri!! I have tried to hike wherever John Muir did in the Sierras & have done Most of the trails in Yosemite & climbed many peaks throughout the High Sierras & love to venture off trail & explore the remotest parts! I cannot put the experience in words well enough to make someone FEEL it...but you did with this picture! Walt
Thank you so much AuntieM...that means a lot from you! LOL, really.
These gorgeous birds love to dig in the leaves under my bushes. They scratch with both feet & look like they are hopping having fun. This western version also known as the Spotted Western Race come through once or twice a year.

I had such a Grand time there 30+ years ago! I am in love with your picture & John Muir is my ultimate Hero so his saying strikes to my heart. I too hear the Mountains calling... I respectfully ask if I may download a copy of this for my personal enjoyment & reflection only? If so it will hang in my den & on my computer. Such a beautiful picture, well done!
Last March I had this Acorn Woodpecker visit my suet feeder quite a few times. He was very shy & ANY movement at the windows he would take flight. One afternoon the sun came out nice & strong & Woody just sat immobile hanging on my fence in the sun for 45 minutes!
I had to very slowly work my camera lens through the blinds all the while he kept an eye on me. I was amazed he let me do this, a first. I thought he must injured he sat without moving for 5-10 minutes at a time but no he was just getting warmed up thankfully. The backlighting really set his Red Top aglow but also caused reflection off the window. I was happy to get these poses at all.
The Acorn Woodpecker sure has a comical look to him...shot at F/6.9, 1/160 Sec,ISO500, 135mm Zoom with my SX700
Warming up
This feels good!
I'm just hanging out
Quixdraw..."except for the furniture" only applies when you are home if they are like our two Labs! LOL...we never could get them to not get on our bed oe couch, hair & warmth & their guilty looks gave them away,
I was called by Cooper Tire company a few years ago & they wanted to use a picture of my F150 in the snow here in Oregon in a Canadian advertisement program. Total surprise as they found it browsing a truck forum...I said yes & they sent me a free set of tires for it the next week.
thank you all very much...it was very exciting
I was very fortunate one day to see this pair of Red Shoulders fly into a tree by my house with a lot of screeching & flapping about then proceed to mate!. Unfortunately I had to run into the house & grab my camera & get set. While I was still getting the camera ready the deed was accomplished & I missed it! Man they are quick! LOL...but at least I can say I have observed them & state I am not a voyeur!
I took a few pics before they recuperated & flew off. I was using my point& shoot SX700HS & it came out to F/6.9, 1/250 sec. ISO 200, at 135mm Zoom. I had to quickly take these shots braced over the back of my truck in the drive way & I know there are faults in the focus & composition but I just enjoy these pictures.. Hope you do too.
Comments appreciated as always.

Reminds me of touring the Tucson Arizona/Mexican border with my Border Patrol nephew. They have disguised cameras everywhere it seems, look like rocks, bushes etc & are cleverly integrated into the local landscape. This must be a new model! LOL..nice
Wow! your pictures hit me right where I live! I absolutely LOVE each & every one of them! I am struck by everything about them, the exposure & composition, the sharpness... If I had to pick just one I couldn't! Such gorgeous subjects.
