I am just now converting to Lightroom Classic from Lightroom CC .... I started with one very large Catalog and after 2 hours the needle has not moved a fraction of an inch. In fact it appears that it has not moved at all in the last hour and a half.

I'm sure there may be other posts regarding this issue.... I am curious if this is common occurrence or if I may have a larger problem.

Windows 10 on a 5 year old Laptop that is otherwise pretty stable and problem free using Lightroom. My hard drive is over 90% full though...

My belief that a sane or crazy person won't attack a school that's armed....

There is a lot of talked about the mental capacity of the k**ler, but he did hold down a job and he did think in advance to pull the alarm before shooting and he did think to disarm and blend in with students when exiting so this is a kid that would have fully understood the consequences if he knew in advance that several of the employees may be armed.

Well trained volunteers working on the school property with concealed carry. Well trained and mentally evaluated on a continual basis.

.... I think the First Responders should be volunteers who are qualified, well trained, and armed... Employees at the schools.

I watched Trump's mtg with School Survivors... His words have been twisted and turned by the Lib Media.

He talked "Volunteers" when referring to teachers, administrators and employees at schools. The Lib press wants you to believe that he wants to strap a pistol on all teachers

He talked training... Reoccurring and continuous training, beyond holding a concealed carry permit

He talked "secrecy" ... Though I don't think he used that word... But implied that it would not be common knowledge as to who is packing.

Our President talked.... (Listen close Libs ).. HE TALKED COMPROMISE... That's not being headlined in MSM

He talked cost... That the cost would be less because the people were already employed. Using the term "less" did not indicate there would not be a pay increase... Surely there would be!

The deputy sheriff working at the school stood outside while the shooting was going on. He failed. However a Coach... Unarmed.... Ran directly to the line of fire to protect the kids, and died. I ask you, who should have been packing that day. The hired Deputy or a dedicated and fearless man whose life was centered around those kids?

Now, let's review what an AR-15 is. It's nothing more than a funny looking deer rifle that is popular among gun enthusiasts. The BIGGEST similarly the AR-15 has with a common deer rifle is that it takes a HUMAN TO CONSCIOUSLY PULL THE TRIGGER...... This is another significant fact overlooked by Liberals.

Thus far.... Not a single NRA member has gone on a mass k*****g spree

And finally, let's understand that many Libs want the same President that they often accuse of being like Hitler to take guns away from it's citizens... Let that sink in for a bit.

We need to keep talking... We need to understand both sides... And we need HONEST Media that report without agenda.

Yeah, I really debated whether to respond or not, but the insistent personal attacks against Republicans in general tipped the scales. I've been a member of the UHH for years but scrapped my old account for multiple reasons, so also hesitated to reply because my posting history is pretty limited ...

My suggestion to most Libs and never-Trump'ers is to take my "Conservative News Challenge"... watch ONLY Conservative - TV News, Radio, YouTube, & Twitter Feeds for a week... And see if your perspective changes.

No one can deny that Law Enforcement and our Military LOVE President Trump. 8 years of Obama was horrendous for both. One look at our successes in the middle east will tell you that.

The real Russian Collusion started with the Democrats and HRC. Notice the Mainstream Media has changed the narrative from Russian Collusion to "Russian Interference" or some other narrative ... Meuller found his Russians - they were making fools of HRC people as far back as 2014. Trump will be proven totally clean, but the Left will never stop pushing a negative narrative.

Never before in our lifetime has there been a President that was H**ed by the Mainstream Media as much as Trump is. They h**e him because he BEAT them at their own game. His Media Performance outdid theirs. His rally's of 10,000 plus people made HRC's look like a small City Council Meeting open to the public. Trump owned the media during the e******n.

He has already done so much for our country with tax reform and jobs coming back. Even MSM types got $1,000 bonuses! So why does the left still h**e him? It's because they are being brainwashed daily by the F**e News Media. Change the Channel ... for a week.... Take the Challenge!

Guns. Someone mentioned Guns, so it's an opened topic ..... A school in Texas has a posted sign that says "our teachers are armed..." or some such language. Trust me, that school will not be attacked. But sadly.... extremely sadly, three capable men died this week, each could have and would have fired back if they had a gun and undoubtedly saved many lives. Taking my gun from my cabinet is going to do nothing to stop violence in this country, as long as pressure cookers are still being sold at Walmart.

Long story short and I know it's too late for that.... America's Left need to wake up, dust off the hurt and pain of losing an e******n and at least hear what President Trump is trying to do, and accept what he has already done.

Next step for Conservatives... win in November, continue replacing liberal activist judges (It's the Judges, Stupid) and get our wall built! btw.... the best thing for DREAMERS is a Trump plan to citizenship and a Wall! Because if we don't get that wall up, their jobs and opportunities will be impacted along with the rest of ours too!

I'm going to bed.... Thank God, we live in a country where free speech will never interfere with our love for Photography! <grin>

Excellent comment.... I always use model release forms unless I am working under contract... So for shooting the waitresses... I may be ok... people in the background..maybe not so much ... I'll probably amend my contract to cover these details. Thanks

Thanks for the great responses.... Each is appreciated! There are still a lot of unanswered questions about this shoot.... which I hope to have resolved in a day or so. The primary target is the wait staff. I want their skin tones to look natural. So ideally, the light I use should be warmer in tone than I would typically use in the studio. So if I can test the Gels before the session starts, that will be helpful.

The thought of adding an orange dome on my Gary Fong is interesting and may be the best route if I have to shoot more of a Candid style.

I have an opportunity to photograph the wait staff of a new Sports Bar and Restaurant that is opening soon. The images will be used for website and posters. This place is more on the line of a Hooter's but a different chain.

The ambient lighting will be soft and dark, probably more on the incandescent soft lighting scale - much closer to 2500K than true daylight color. If I set up with the studio strobes I am going to get a soft light, but it will be too close to daylight and that always strikes an odd contrast to the gold/amber background lighting.

So does anyone have history shooting this type of work?
What color gels do you use to offset the daylight color of a strobe or even a Speedlight?
I have a large assortment of Paul C. Buff Gels - and so if by some slim chance someone has used those, the "gel color #" should be the same as mine.

The targeted end result is a full body to 3/4 body lighting for individuals and probably groups of three. The ambient light should be apparent but not the primary source of my light. I'm anticipating 800 or better for my ISO.

Any advice or general tips for this style of work is appreciated. Again.... I am not going to the contrasty 'blue toned faces' in a sea of soft white/amber background lighting, but a nice blend between.


Gear - Canon 6D 24-105 F4 / nifty-50. My other lenses are too long for this job
Lighting - PCBuff Einstein(s) multiple diffusers or Speedlights - on camera (with a Gary Fong light thief or bounce card) or off camera with multiple diffusers.
