Totally agree. I've often perused Puget's site and have found much useful info. But I can build my own system for much less..same components.
I've never run a Mac.... I have built several PC's and, like Puget, am partial to AMD Ryzen CPU's.
While I'd like to upgrade from my 3900x CPU, and a latest gen GPU (not gonna happen until the prices return to earth), for photo editing, my latest PC with a GTX 1080 and 32 gb of good ram, is plenty. If I ever advance my video editing skills beyond beginner, then upgrading would be worth it.
I bought a 5D III on ebay back in 2017 with some 560k shutter actuations. It was ugly, but worked perfectly. It was the only piece of kit that succumbed to my house fire.
With the IBIS of that camera, handholding that combo should be a breeze. I can do it with my Canon 500 f/4 and 1.4 or 2x.....

I’ve read of that setup too. Seems to get good results. Thanks.
Yes. I've done it. 1:1 Canon EF 100 macro IS..... I use a cardboard box to set a 4 slide mount on and set it on a laptop set to a white background. Better than directly on the laptop.
Have yet to do it with my 45 mp Canon R5, but no slide scanner could match that resolution, I imagine.

You can buy my used canon 7dm2. PM me if interested.
There ya go, OP!!
My first mk II was stolen. Got my 2nd a few years ago, for under $800, on ebay. Works fine.
Fredmiranda.com is a good place. Personally, I've had good luck buying many things on ebay. Now, there's offerup and facebookmarketplace.

I never use it because it will double the length of time an exposure takes. So if you take a 30 sec exposure, the camera won't be ready to take another image for 60 seconds.
You are right. However, when I'm shooting the night skies, Milky Way, etc, I have to shoot at 1600-5000 ISO, so I always set the "high ISO NR" to on. Long exposure NR? Sometimes I set it for exposures of under 30s, but it has to be set when shooting much longer exposure times, say over 30 seconds up to several minutes.
