Whatever Nikon does with the Df2, I sure hope they don’t add video!

I first became aware of the Angry Photographer shortly after I purchased a Nikon Df in late 2014 and fell back in love with photography. Since this was my first full-frame DSLR, I immediately experienced major GAS attacks and started building-up my lens collection. In addition to being educational and entertaining, The Angry Photographer reviews are also aimed at helping his viewers avoid disappointment in their gear purchases as well as get the best value for their money.

The Angry Photographer also steered me into the woderful world of vintage AI and Ai-S manual focus Nikkor lenses circa 1980 through 1990, which while mostly discontinued, are built to last with metal and made in Japan ... and are in many ways superior to their modern-day counterparts. Over the past two+ years I've found his reviews (although somewhat repetitive) to be honest, accurate and reliable.

The only downside for me is that his videos have cost me at lot of money... but never a disappointment in my gear purchases that he recommended.

After producing more than 4,000 YouTube videos -- most of which focus on Nikon cameras and lens reviews -- Angry Photographer Ken Wheeler has produced his last "secret must buy" lens video for Nikon shooters. In the past his "must buy" lens videos have included classic Nikkor lenses such as the 60mm f2.8D, 135mm f2.8 Ai-S, 50mm f1.8 Ai pancake, 200mm f4 Ai, 105mm f2.5 Ai-S, 300mm f4.5 Ai-S ED IF as well as the Tokina 100mm f2.8 Macro AT-X Pro D. His last "must buy" video is for the Nikkor 105mm f1.8 Ai-S, which can be viewed at https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qHSOw7nqzTg. Has anyone owned or used this lens that dates back to the mid-to-late 1980's? If so, what is your impression of it?

A very large number of D750's are currently under recall from Nikon to fix an issue. The clear answer to your question is buy a D810 refurbished by Nikon at a decent price at nikonusa.com.

When I first started I discovered the somewhat controversial but knowledgeable "Angry Photographer" on YouTube. This "fat, bald and tattooed" photography expert has produced over FOUR THOUSAND lens and camera video reviews along with tips and tricks to shoot, shop for and maintain equipment and generally improve your photo knowledge and skills... all presented in an entertaining, passionate and irreverent manner.

He specializes in Nikon and Fuji gear, and you can find him by googling or search YouTube for "The Angry Photographer." Check him out! Visit: https://www.youtube.com/user/kathodosdotcom

I shoot with a full-frame Nikon Df, and recently added a 16mm f2.8D Nikkor fisheye to my collection. I'm having a blast with this lens, and if you haven't considered a fisheye, Nikon makes a highly rated and more reasonably priced 10mm DX fisheye, specifically for its AP-C digital cameras. You might want to check out some reviews online, such as the Angry Photographer's review on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AH1HB5kwziQ

Buy the refurbed Nikon from Nikon and you'll be fine. I've bought at least 10 refurbished Nikkor lenses as well as 2 refurbished Nikon Df cameras from nikonusa.com and never had a problem in nearly three years. See if you can pick up the refurbished 7200 from them around the 4th, as they should have a special extra 10% off on refurbished gear on their site!

Other than its uniquely beautiful retro look and D4 sensor, one of the primary benefits of the Nikon Df is its backwards capability with older "built like a tank" F-mount Nikkor lenses, including AI, AI-S as well as the D series.

When it comes to eBay, you should only deal with sellers who have a rating of 99.6% or higher. Also, don't be afraid to ask them questions about the lens, such as does it have any scratches, "cleaning marks" or chips on the front or rear elements, or any haze or fungus on any of the inner elements, or in the case of certain Nikkor "D" lenses, whether any screeching noise is emitted during autofocus, etc. Of course, look at the photos of the lens on a large computer monitor and not on a smartphone or even a tablet to search for imperfections, scratches or signs of drops or general abuse.

Reliable domestic eBay sellers I've dealt with include sellers with the following eBay names: blackswan787 (for a Nikkor 180mm f2.8D IF-ED), yuanfeng.bbw (for a Nikkor 85mm f1.4D IF AF) and camerastop (for a Nikkor 28-70 f2.8D, a Nikkor 35-70 f2.8 AF Zoom and Nikkor 20-35mm f2.8 IF AF).

The best source for vintage or discontinued Nikon lenses on eBay seems to be those sold from Japan, where the Japanese sellers tend to provide more information about the actual condition of the lenses they are selling. For me, shipping from Japan to New York takes about 5-6 days, and all three lenses I've purchased so far from different Japanese dealers have arrived exactly as described and are securely packaged for mail delivery. There don't appear to be any customs issues or surcharges with camera lenses shipped from Japan to the USA either, based on my experience.

You can't go wrong purchasing a refurbished Nikkor lens at nikonusa.com, especially during their fairly frequent 10% Off sales. Sign up to receive their emails, and you'll be automatically notified when the sales are in effect. Shipping is generally free on orders over $99, and the lenses arrive in immaculate "like new" condition... at a respectable savings versus new.
