I am buying a DF Nikon, i did a comparison to my D800, most all is the same, "CMOS sensor" etc, I had purchased some "D" lenses o use on the D800, {inexpensive and pretty good lenses} MY question is Will the "D" lens auto focus with the DF? i know they will not work on a select DX cameras!
thank you in advance for any info
The Nikon website has a compatibility chart that shows whether each lens will work with what cameras.
Or Google "Nikon lens compatibility". /Ralph

Yes they will. I have a Df and use the 24mm, 50mm and 60mm Micro D lenses on it.
p.s.
You will love the Df.
The Df is compatible to more lenses than any Nikon DSLR.

That pretty much sums it up. I frequently use my 1960's era glass on my Df.
Nikon said that the Df is compatible with any F mount lenses made since 1959 which is not exactly true because there are a few F mount lenses can not be used on the Df but very few.
Other than its uniquely beautiful retro look and D4 sensor, one of the primary benefits of the Nikon Df is its backwards capability with older "built like a tank" F-mount Nikkor lenses, including AI, AI-S as well as the D series.

Why buy outdated technology?

The OP said in the tittle "This is for the Df guys" and you're certainly not one of the Df guys.

its pretty simple really {since you asked} i have a 3200 and a d800, i love the d800, but with my arthritic hands {i was a heavy equipment mechanic ,automotive, marine and industrial for 45 years} it is just a little big and awkward for me, i have compared the specs on Df and 800 on the nikon site, and the are "just" about the same camera, {and i not interested in doing video.} now that i have the Df in my hands it is a perfect fit,..
and on another note!!!
i had delusions of grandeur when i got my camera stuff 5 years ago,{when i retired} i had intentions of becoming a photographer, turns out it is hard to teach an "old dog" some new tricks, so i bought bought a welder and am do some fabrication work!! {converting bumper haul RV's to 5th wheel trailers, via an adapter}{guess i am a too high strung to retire!!} But I am still doing photography as a hobby!!
Well, Nikonbill , not sure if you where being a smartass or if you where really asking a legt question, so i opted for the second! hope it answers you question
To be fair a lot of the things on the Df is old technology.
1. The sensor on the Df although the same as the D4 is older than that of the D800 and has a lot fewer pixels.
2. The AF module is older than that of the D800.
3. Last but not least the controls of the Df are based on cameras of the 80's and before.
But why not? It works well.
