To be fair a lot of the things on the Df is old technology.
1. The sensor on the Df although the same as the D4 is older than that of the D800 and has a lot fewer pixels.
2. The AF module is older than that of the D800.
3. Last but not least the controls of the Df are based on cameras of the 80's and before.

But why not? It works well.

the Df will fill the niche that I need. it turns out i have no need for 36 megapixel photos. go figure!!

I can change important settings like ISO and shutter speed a lot faster on the Df than on a "modern" DSLR. The aperture I adjust with the *gasp* aperture ring!

I shoot quite a bit of film still, and most of my lenses are "D" type, so switching between say, my Nikon F or F3 to the Df is pretty much seamless.

All the processing machines have been scrapped, we’ll never see the same Kodachrome again. Kodak is resurrecting Ektachrome, it will be interesting to see how it competes with Fujichrome.

I am buying a DF Nikon, i did a comparison to my D800, most all is the same, "CMOS sensor" etc, I had purchased some "D" lenses o use on the D800, {inexpensive and pretty good lenses} MY question is Will the "D" lens auto focus with the DF? i know they will not work on a select DX cameras!

thank you in advance for any info

I will stand to be corrected on this, the Nikon Df will work with a greater amount of Nikon lenses than any of their other cameras. I have one and have yet to find a Nikon lens that would not work. And like Mac says, you will love it. After a few weeks someone would have to break your arm to take it away from you!

I have this re-occurring dream the Nikon just announced the Df II with a D5 sensor and processor and a new focus system and I wake up in my underwear, credit card in hand trying to start the car. There is only one thing better than a Df, two Df's!

My dream the new Df doesn't have AF. Doesn't have S or P mode. Doesn't even have the LCD. And it cost $5500.
