If you're happy and the other guy is happy, then it's a good deal.

A few years ago I went on a 6 day bicycle ride in Virginia, it was supported so our tents and stuff were carried for us. I had a set of saddlebags to carry extra food and rain gear plus a padded bike bag that I carried my camera in ( a Nikon L810) Ended up with something like 300 pics for the ride. Worked out fine as long as you don't try to take a picture while in motion.

They're heading north through Indiana now, a little later than normal. Last year the spot we were at gave an estimate of 3000 the day we were there.

Students in an advanced Biology class were taking their mid-term exam. The last question was, 'Name seven advantages of Mother's Milk.' The question was worth 70 points or none at all. One student, in particular, was hard put to think of seven advantages However, he wrote:
1) It is perfect formula for the child.
2) It provides immunity against several diseases.
3) It is always the right temperature.
4) It is inexpensive.
5) It bonds the child to mother, and vice versa.
6) It is always available as needed. And then the student was stuck. Finally, in desperation, just before the bell rang indicating the end of the test, he wrote:
7) It comes in two attractive containers and it's high enough off the ground where the cat can't get it. He got an A.

Got to see them during the 1st Gulf War. At home we're under the flight path they use to go to a practice range. Love to watch them go over. Once in a while they go low and fast over the town. I had a boss once complain about it, I just told him "that's the sound of freedom". When they go flat out, youcan hear them but you will never see them.

Wonder what type a factory they're made at? Wind, solar, nasty coal, natural gas or perhaps made in China.

Reminds me of the debate I had once on styrafoam vs paper coffee cups. Now we all know that the former takes longer to decompose than the paper which is not good, however it takes more energy and produces more waste to make the paper cups.

We used to have a papermill in our town. Nasty smell, and the houses nearest had to be repainted each year on the side that faced the mill. Not to mention the waste ponds they had, not much of a problem until the rain stirred them up a bit.

With all due respect, how many things do we purchase that eventually pay for themselves even after a hundred years? If it pays for itself after ten years, I would think it is still a good investment, especially if you hold it for past ten years!

Cars, heaters, hot water tanks, air conditioners, refrigerators ... never return an kind of value, yet we purchase them and don't bellyache about how long it took to pay for itself because they don't.

I understand that point, but it's not the same thing. In Indianpolis there's a group that wants to supply an all electric car rental (details can be found in the paper, way to much to go into here), however, the electric company wants to charge ALL customers for the investment in the cars and charging stations. Now if the electric company was building new substation etc I might, I said might see their point. However, the base point was: "do they ever get to the point of a return?".

One question that I have but have never found the answer about these bird shredders is: How long does it take, considering land lease, eqipment, maintenance etc before they start paying for themselves.

I've got a friend who looked into getting one for his home. He told me that even with a tax break it would take almost 10 years before he could recoup his investment, even with selling the extra power. But only if nothing broke on it.

They'll get used to people. Up in Miami County, Indiana there's a couple of rivers they like to hang around. They seem to be used to getting their pictures taken. One was in a tree about 40-50 feet up. We stopped the car for some pictures, he just sat there. Looked at us a couple of times but never moved.

The chemistry between Carson and McMahon was pure magic, and the guests ! This was THE Tonight Show, what a great time for TV, a real golden age.
All you needed was a B&W TV and some rabbit ears and there were talk and variety shows , you name it, all on a handful of stations that went off the air by 2 am.
Today it is 24 hours and hundreds of stations, and everyone is looking for high definition, more channels , a TV in every room , etc., etc ., etc., but it can't come even close to those golden years , that was entertainment.

My backup camera is a Cool Pix 530 that is 42X Zoom Wide. Dosen't take bad pictures until you zoom all the way without a tripod. Sometimes even with a tripod it gets a little blurry, but it's used in my Parks truck for quick shots. Interested in how this one does.

What I hate is the time zone change in Indiana. It's not that big of a state. Far northwest corner and far southwest corner (but not the ones on the west side between the two corners) are on Chicago time. I just wish they would pick one zone or the other to be in and this time don't give the counties a choice, which is what happend last time.
