Sounds like it is designed to sell you the Garmin online "Account". I imagine that hypochondriacs or neurotic techie types will like this, but it seems the only thing it does different than a $45 Omron BP monitor is provide a very pretty display and allow you to track your readings. I would like this and be impressed if health insurance companies offered it and it was designed to upload the readings to your physician.

I also noticed the dark shadow or bruise on her left buttock, but that did not distract me from the beauty of the model and photograph. Although in the back of my mind a little voice is asking: "was there a mouse in her bedroom"?

Pretty funny. Not to mention somewhat confusing. What is OK about sending migrants anywhere in the middle of the night? And no one is "sending" migrants to southern states except the migrants - those states happen to be where the southern border is located.... Except for Florida, and for some reason the Cubans who arrive on our shores are still treated better than other immigrants. And life in Cuba is nowhere near as bad as life in Honduras, El Salvador, or Venezuela. The migrants flown to Martha's Vineyard by Florida governor deathsantis were not even IN Florida. He rationalized trafficking these migrants from Texas to Massachusetts with Florida funds by saying that they "were thinking about coming to Florida"!

I think repositioning migrants throughout the US is not a bad idea. But that is no excuse for treating humans badly. Any sharing of responsibility for these folks should be done with coordination and information sharing. No lies. No subterfuge. No using human beings as political pawns. And, as many have been saying for the past 30 years or more - we need a comprehensive national immigration policy - but neither democrats nor republicans have been willing to work together to develop one.

Another post today coincidentally discusses the Jaguar hearse used in the Queens funeral. Remember Harold converting the Jaguar XK-E his mother gave him into a hearse? THAT was funny. I found this article.

Every year we prepare a couple of "hurricane boxes". We have a gas stove, but I also have a Coleman stove with fuel. Food that doesn't require refrigeration and that can be prepared in a single pot are ideal - backpackers and RV'ers are probably familiar with some of these. Pasta and spaghetti sauce, crackers, canned tuna and chicken, cereal, boxes of ultra-pasteurized milk that need no refrigeration (until opened). Crackers and the spray can cheese for a snack. Rice-a-Roni or similar with a can of chicken thrown in is quick and not bad. Most of these foods are too salty or too processed to eat on a regular basis in our opinion. And peanuts. AND peanut M&M's! Large jugs or drinking water. If a hurricane is coming we fill the bathtub with water that can be used for bathing and flushing the toilet. If the damage is bad enough that the water system is out for more than a day or two we would probably be leaving anyway!

Elsewhere today is a post about the movie "Harold and Maude". Coincidentally, in that movie Harold, a rich kid with a fascination with death, had his Cadillac hearse sold by his mother when he wasn't at home, and she bought him a Jaguar XK-E, thinking it will help him pick up girls. He immediately gets out his welding gear and converts it into a hearse. Sadly, at the end of the move the hearse is destroyed - this movie having been made in 1968 - "Before CGI" - so, no special effects - they really had to drive it off a cliff.

One of best all time classics. I used to run a couple of classic movie theaters on Nantucket in the 1973-1978. Was one of my favorites. Music by Cat Stevens.
Bud Cort and Ruth Gordon were stellar.
Other favs were A Man and a Woman, Citizen Kane, Mash, Casablanca, Moby Dick (saw 83 times) Camelot and a few more.
Thanks for evoking great memories.

Two thumbs up for Harold and Maude! Don't forget King of Hearts. One small theater in the Boston area ran it for two years as I recall. Every time they announced that they were ending the run everyone would come to see it again and bring their friends.

Powdered sugar? I always called that "fried dough". If made with a more liquid batter it is sometimes called "funnelcakes". If you head to the Southwest, "frybread" often comes slathered with refried pinto beans. "Frybread and beans" is Navajo fast food....

I wish people would stop using ‘kit lens’ as a pejorative. I purchased a Pentax “Super Program” kitted with a Pentax-A 50mm F/1.7 lens. Some years later I purchased a K-30, and as a ‘stunt’ used it with that old lens ….. I was shocked at how sharp it was on a digital camera.

Historically the kit lenses strived for mediocrity.... While the new Canon kit lenses may be decent, many loyal Canon customers have a large investment in high-quality lenses, and it is an affront to force them to purchase a lens which may or may not be inferior to what they have. It makes some, like me, to start to study options such as Sony.
