I would guess that Jaguar built the sedan/chassis, then sent it to a custom conversion shop.

Same thing done here in the states. Cadillac, Lincoln, only build the sedans, then send them out for custom conversion.

Queen Elizabeth's casket was moved in a Jaguar-based hearse. Apparently the same one used when her mother died in 2002.

It may be the only one custom built for the Queen.

As in my post above. The hearse was designed with the Queen input. The irony is that although it was built by Land Rover Jaguar which is a Bristish brand but Jaguar is owned by TaTa Motors of India (which is no longer in the commonwealth).

I didn’t know the color was called Royal Claret. Like one of the posts in the link above, I was praying the Jag didn’t have an electrical issue.

I spent a good portion of the day watching the funeral and was as impressed with the wonderful pageantry as with this elegant Monarch’s life and service. The British do this so much better than any other nation. Their value of history and continuity is incomparable - a validation of the Monarchy. Also, one cannot help but notice that military service and pride in service are such an intrinsic part of the country’s leadership and ethos - something I wish was better represented in our own government.

God save the King.

All hearses are built by custom body builders these days and have been since the 1950s, and maybe before that.
I noticed that some Funeral parlors are using larger SUV's now, probably to reduce the cost of buying the custom bodied vehicles.

That was actually a custom hers that the queen had built for her funeral.

If not the old one, then it would be Tatta Motors, how ironic would that be?

I was wrong in my original post. The one used in 2002 was also built on a Jaguar, but was a different vehicle. The one used for QEII was newly built. However, I thought I read somewhere that India has not actually left the Commonwealth - yet.
