I have been waiting for my R7 body only since July... has anyone received theirs or heard of potential delivery date?
Thanks

I ordered mine at B&H and I got it in mid-August.

When I found out how long the wait for body only was back on June 23 I ordered the body/18-150 kit and EF>RF adaptor that day and got it July 3rd (they told me 6th, so it was 3 days early)

They seem to be making almost nothing but kits. Could be because they are assuming most people will have no RF lenses and certainly no RF-s lenses, since the R7 & R10 are the first and so far only aps-c RF bodies. The 18-150 is a neat little "walk around" lens. I bought an RF 1.4x extender from Canon and also an RF 100-400 from a guy on Ebay who got it for a cruise over a year ago and hadn't used it since. The major complaint I have with the RF 100-400 is the slow f-stops, esp with the 1.4x but the faster/longer 100-500L is nearly $2900 so until I can save that much I will live with the RF 100-400 or use my EF 'L' zooms until then. They work great with the adaptor, but are much bigger and heavier than the new RF lenses. The R7 almost looks like a toy hanging on the back of my EF 100-400L or my Tamron 150-600 G2.

My advice is getting it as a kit if you can afford the extra $400. R7 and R10 are on back-order as body only, but R7/18-150 kit and R10.18-45 or 18-150 kits are in stock at the Canon Store.

I understand that Canon is increasing their profits by selling kits. Why don't they offer a better quality lense as a kit? You might buy that at a later date anyhow.

The lack of response from Canon regarding delivery is not good customer service 😕

What's wrong with the kit lenses?

I have no need for a kit lens. I have good glass that I like, so I ordered a converter. I will have to save for RF lenses down the road.
This is my preference.

I ordered mine in June, body only, from my local camera store. It was taking forever so I bought the kit with the 18-150 lens as they had plenty of the kits. Love it. That combo is very light and takes great images.

I agree with you Jim. I am also very unhappy to hear the other comments as I ordered my R7 at the beginning of August and cannot get any info from Canon or store. Infact the store I ordered from will only tell me that they have my order. They will not tell me where I am at on the list which is ridiculous because it is not like I am going somewhere else and starting all over.
When the R7 came out it seemed to be too good to be true. I wanted to wait and see what feedback I could get after it was on the market for a while. All I heard is that it is a fantastic deal and I missed the boat. I am afraid that I am going to miss the fall sports season. I guess thats what I get for being careful.

Increasing profits by selling kits? I haven't checked prices, but, if Canon is selling a body and lens together for less then the price if sold separately, which is the usual procedure, how does that increase profits? If the idea is that people are going to buy the kit for hundreds extra just to get the body, then sure, a few might, but the majority are just going to wait, or just buy something else. Possibly another brand even. Doesn't seem like much of a recipe for higher profits.

Canon has been in business for awhile, so I believe they know what they are doing. They manufacture only so many bodies, so bundling them with lenses may turn out to give them the best profits.

Very informative post .

Your post highlights even more the mistake Canon is making by stopping any third-party lens makers from making RF lenses. Eventually that will hurt Canon R body sales. Faced with a choice between kit lens quality, or expensive better quality RF lenses, only from Canon, many have chosen to abandon the brand altogether. I am not making this up. As an administrator and moderator of several Facebook Photography groups whose members use all brands, I am seeing this reaction to Canon crippling themselves yet again.

Sometimes big companies "cant see the forest for the trees" and forget how best to grow their base. FYI, I was a pro Canon user for over forty years.

Cheers and best to all you Canon R7 customers.

I agree with you Toby. We all have encountered set back with Covid but there is no excuse for poor communication. I heard Canon is prioritizing higher end cameras R5 R3 & R1...

I wish people would stop using ‘kit lens’ as a pejorative. I purchased a Pentax “Super Program” kitted with a Pentax-A 50mm F/1.7 lens. Some years later I purchased a K-30, and as a ‘stunt’ used it with that old lens ….. I was shocked at how sharp it was on a digital camera.

It is not a disapproval of the kit lens, it is a matter of my preference and choice of lenses
