Hi There
There are so many software filter products out there. Like Akvis, Topaz labs, nik color efex pro 4 and Alien skin snap art 2. What recommendations and feedback do you have? I have Photoshop CS5.
Thanks
Bill

As a great all-around set, the NIK suite is hard to beat. Color Efex4 (Part of NIK) has tons of options. Topaz is excellent as is the OnOne Suite.

The key to moat of these is moderation and learning how to use layer masks so you can apply the effect to specific parts of the image and in varying opacities. Just running one of the filters at full strength in a default strength is not usually the best approach.

Most have free trial periods, so you can play and see what fits your vision.

Just been showing people for years, and most grab the the basics of placing text and pictures within 10 mins. The advance stuff like kerning and tracking takes a longer time. Also with most of this just like camera, photoshop and the technical part of the camera is the easy part cut and dry. Composition the creative part is the difficult part with the much longer learning curve. As we know anybody can take snap shots but few take works of art. Still trying to master that.

ID is not as hard as people say. Have been using and teaching it since aldus pagemaker AKA Indesign was first introduced.

if you want to shoot from the handle bars and helmet, check out the go pro camera and systems. We use it to shoot white water rafting including the photographer getting thrown out of the raft into the river. All the air and under water shots also great for for skiing.

I took lot of pictures in RAW format, which makes it difficult to view them. Is there a way to batch process them to have a jpeg version also? I have PSE8, and will be getting PSE10 soon. Thanks

I think that your problem is one of workflow, and not getting them to a jpeg file to view..

Most organizers will view raw just fine the same way as you would a file of jpegs.. Perhaps you are just clicking on the raw file one at a time and not using the organizer ???

Have to agree with LarryD, but to answer your question in pse 10 there is a feature under file>process multi files this will allow you to batch process files raw to jpg. Not sure why you want to.

I have the 1.8 and it works for my style of photography, where I don't have to worry about the need for the f-stop for light, I shoot a lot with a tripod. I use it for the depth of field.

Indesign is a page layout program, meaning it is used to layout out magazines, books most items you see in print form have gone through Indesign or Quark. I have not use quark in a few years it was falling out of favor as a page layout program, but perfectly fine for what you have to do. Both programs are on the pricey side , but save you on the cost of labor and getting the work to come out exactly the way you want it. If you where to use publisher most printing companies will not except the file. They will take a pdf and can not adjust or make corrections. The other option printing companies do when they receive publisher files is relay it out and charge you for the time. If this is something you will be doing a number of times a year well worth the money.

Hi,
I know everyone is hustling around for Christmas, but thought I would ask if anyone could improve some of these snapshots that were taken a few years ago. My dad just lost his dog on Thanksgiving. Very sad, She was his everything. We are trying to get some last minute gifts made with photos for him. After searching for a week I finally located the pictures I had in mind.
I have seen so many talented displays of art on this forum, I am hoping someone might be able to do something with these photos in the way of shadows, which is the thing that is bothering me the most. Anybody who wants to take a shot at it in any way you think they would be better, please have at it.
