Hi There
There are so many software filter products out there. Like Akvis, Topaz labs, nik color efex pro 4 and Alien skin snap art 2. What recommendations and feedback do you have? I have Photoshop CS5.
Thanks
Bill

As a great all-around set, the NIK suite is hard to beat. Color Efex4 (Part of NIK) has tons of options. Topaz is excellent as is the OnOne Suite.

The key to moat of these is moderation and learning how to use layer masks so you can apply the effect to specific parts of the image and in varying opacities. Just running one of the filters at full strength in a default strength is not usually the best approach.

Most have free trial periods, so you can play and see what fits your vision.

Oh Jeez, you are so right - how could I forget Portraiture!! I use it almost everyday.
And again - best used with layers rather than accept the defaults.
