Another beautiful shot of a male duck in breeding plumage.
Here in Annapolis, Chesapeake Bay country, every little cove, creek or any sheltered area has a small flock of these They dive well for grass and mud dwelling creatures. Small clams are plentiful around our waterways.
They head north in about a month.

Yes, shoveler. Male in high breeding plumage. In Maryland now, too. Fresh water ponds. Beautifully shot.

Hello,
I take Bayer once a day because of 2 strokes. Some eventually do have problems with Ibuprofen. Some don't. Last 6 months Neuropathy has been racking my entire body. I don't want the meds the Dr. says help it. To strong and I take 2 types of Blood Pressure pills. I thought about CBD Oil. No THC they say. I am kind of scared to try it. I understand how you feel. I get blood tests a lot. So far the test is perfect. Everything has pro's and con's. Am going to wing this for a while. Is all I can do. The medication the Dr. wanted to give me. Has detrimental side effects. I am a big chicken. Pain isn't fun. I have chronic pain as well from shattering both of my arms. Just research CBD Oil. A few friends say it is great. That is them. Not me.

Does anybody know if this stuff realy works for pain? That was the question. I am sorry, but I missed that part in your response. Did it help you? Did you try it?. Oh, sorry, I see not.

Does anyone know if this stuff really works for pain ? I'm a little concerned that if I keep taking Ibuprophen I might develop an ulcer or some form of stomach problem. Would love to hear from someone who is not trying to sell this product. I do NOT want to start taking opioids (spelled wrong) CBD oil isn't cheap but if it works I'll give it a try.

Regardless of the responder's intent, their opinion is not to be trusted. If I needed medical advice, I think I would seek it from a pro, not on a phototography forum.
Go on line and do research yourself, then you will learn firsthand. Then talk to a doctor.
A doctor has fact backing him or her, not opinion or heresay.

This is one of the hundreds in the long test tube. Family Lyctid. Genus Lyctus, may be striatus (sp.).
Surprised you got a pin in it. Even minutins tended to break the elytra.
Some beetles just will not be pinned. That is where points come in. I prefer to keep in alcohol for ease of re-examining. Less room too.

I'm not sure it's alive, it didn't move for several hours.
Four shot stack through the curl of a Ginger leaf.

I would say dead because flying insects rarely rest with the body touching substrate. But what a perfect pose to die in. Unusual.

Looks like fun poking around in there! The ground beetle is pretty handsome.

They may have the most offensive defensive smell in the carabididae.
And yes, this is a fun way to collect. Put a pile on a piece of white paper and hang a small but hot bulb over. Get a vial of alcohol and an artist brush ready. Harvest the exodus of creatures. The Berlieze funnel heat and negative phototropism principle (but you knew that). Or get the camera ready. NOW you will have some sport, moving targets.
Thanks for commenting, Mark.

Well done, you must have a very steady hand.

Buy a scroll saw. Do your homework. Second hand can be just fine but try it first. You do not need much, but you need quality and stability.
I used a five ply plywood about .1 inch thick. Attach with MMM77. To the photo. Buy a superfine batch of blades. Practice, learn to be slow and steady. I made a blank pattern and had it reproduced different sizes. . Once cut out, smooth and put a couple lite coats of clear acrylic on each piece, but PUT THEM ON WAXED PAPER FIRST.
Start larger, work toward smaller as you become proficient. By using the same pattern, you 'learn' it and get better easier. The puzzles will still be unique due to minor differences and would probably not interchange, unless you cut three or four at once.
You now have a new hobby.

Has been clement enough for collecting. The following is what is in a handful of leaf litter from under a log. I collect into 6 by 9 inch carryout containers. Instant terrarium. Lable to location and sort at leasure. Can be kept in the vegetable drawer (depending on spouses' tolerance) indeffinatly.
Canon T2I with 39 mm tubes, 40/mm lens and an odd flash/ flashlight unit.
Hope you find interesting. P.S. There was a LOT of creatures MUCH smaller.
Bill
The last I was not sending till I saw three blurry creatures, not one. I have done better with this rig, so FYI on collecting, not photography.
Nite, all.

While hunting for specimens in the woods yesterday I found the skeletal remains of a wild turkey. I had been there for awhile and squirrels had been gnawing on them. I noticed the lattice pattern of its structure so I thought that it would make a good study as a 4X macro view.

That's possibly what mine are starting to look like.

You know sir, you get around. Blackwater area, Dorchester Co. This has me stumped. Sandy Point Light? One thing about THE bay is the variety. Never a dull moment. I know Annapolis area waterfront and history well. 101 places to drive and shoot. Bay Ridge has the best scenic water front drive left in the state. Cambridge the next. Then not much due to McMansions blocking the view. Highly enjoy your work.

Driving along a ditch road at a marsh and spotted this fella/gal. Had to back up a little to find an opening through the marsh grasses and get enough minimal focus distance...glad he hug around for a few seconds!!

Am leaving now to head back out to the marsh before first light...damn, I love being retired!!

I had people ask what I was going to do when I retired. Never understood the point of such an inaine question. What ever I damn well please. Ten years now and still busy. If you, like I, drove 60 miles thru heavy traffic, one way, to work. Then turn on your local traffic report to perk up your mood.😀.
