[quote=camharnden237]In my second photo though I do not know why the lights in the bottom right corner are like that. Please explain if you know. I also know I need to get that leaf out of the photo. Photoshop was being a pain and wouldn't let me take it out.

It appears that something/someone passed in front of the lens that caused a ghost image. Had a similar result when shooting a long exposure in a slot canyon in Arizona when a fellow spelunker passed through my shot. Really couldn't tell it was a person, only some translucent squiggly lines across the scene.

That Pic looked a lot brighter on my monitor. Let's see what a little brightening will do.

Hello,
I recently watched a video about shooting pictures of the moon, this is a first attempt and I was just working on the technical aspects. I can't wait for the full moon later this week.

I've been doing a little experimenting with moon pics. This one was taken a few nights ago with my new Nikon D5100 coupled with a VR 55-300mm lens, zoomed out fully, mounted on a tripod. I used the spot meter to set the exposure ( f/8 ,1/320s, ISO180), compensated -3.0 EV. Cropped and sharpened. I've heard that the best shots are on a cold, clear night when the atmosphere is dry and under the influence of high pressure... not too many opportunities here along the Texas Gulf Coast !

Here is a couple of the first ones I took . Still havent got fireworks down yet . I will try in bulb mode next chance I get . The ones I see posted here are great .

New to the forum, but also attempted fireworks last July 4th.
The best advice I got was to use a remote release and bulb setting to take the guesswork out of the burst timing. My photos were taken with a tripod-mounted Nikon D70S coupled with a Tamron 28-300mm, manually focused during the first few bursts, f/11 @ ISO 200. Some sharpening and color boost via Nikon's ViewNX2 software.
