Anyone own this beast and can give me a yes or no buy recommendation? The online reviews are amazing...is that your experience? Thanks very much for your kind response... (Sigma ART 50mm 1.4)
Mallards and Herons were busy at Burnidge Forest Preserve today...
Bob, spectacular image...
wonderful captures...great focus and DOF...
Tomcat, thanks very much for your quick response...I have an 85/1.8 so will try that next time...
Jak, I have had similar challenges shooting orchestral settings...when I am using auto-iso (typically with a Nikon D750 or D500) I get too much noise as the iso is getting in the 3200-4000 range...is this normal to have this level of noise? (Am using a Nikon 70-200 2.8) Thanks
Hi Scotty, have some Jpg images, not sure how to add to this thread...
Selmslie, noise is distributed around the entire image. Obviously, at 65-100%, it is very visible on the face and hands since they are the most critical. That is why I softened the images in PS to eliminate the noise and create an image that is usable in a large format (36x24, or 60x40) basis for posters. Best,
Low Budget Dave, thanks for those comments...I will try using my 105 1.8 with a teleconverter, that might be enough light...thanks for that great insight and tip, Best regards

Wow, thanks to all who were so generous in your quick and detailed responses...the easy answer is always, "just get more light..." You are all amazing...thanks again
HELP!!!
I shoot a lot of concert images usually with an orchestra so there are seldom spotlights used by an somewhat well lit scene that enables the musicians to be able to read their scores.
I am able to shoot offstage so that I have an unobstructed view of the Conductor. I always shoot in RAW and jpg simultaneously. My equipment is a Nikon D750 usually coupled with a Nikon 70-200 2.8 lens. I have also used a Sigma 150-600, 5.6.
Using manual mode, most of my setting have a 1/320 shutter and between 2.8 and 4.0 stop. I allow the ISO to go as high as ISO 8000.
These images are fine as jpeg. In order to use them as larger images there is a lot of noise. The only way I have found to reduce the noise is to soften the images considerably in PS.
Is there a different way to eliminate noise or are my setting incorrect?
Appreciate the feedback and comments.
Bob, those are amazing images...wow...great work...
Thanks Bob, am going to rent a 4x5...am curious about the results...
