I never thought of it that way before. Thank you. I signed on the line at 18+ about 60 days. Didn't know fecal material from shinola. Worth every moment.
While God is being given thanks, let's include thanks for the ones who got back.
Hope they go to a heaven, they have already been thru hell.
Bill

I should have added that this subject is one of three things that can bring a tear to my eye.
The other two being a half teaspoon of wasabi or fresh horseradish.

I agree with one tiny exception, make soldier, veteran. Not all veterans were sent to combat, but each one could have been. I am one of the latter group and thank God each day for the ones who were sent.

Support our Troops - Red Friday.

I'm 72 tomorrow. USAF 65-69. Autopilot spec. Hawaii, Guam (B52's), Japan. No action, lucky. My point is this. I do not believe people were angry at our servicemen and women as much as tired of the deciet, lies, and useless death coming from and because of our 'leaders'.
When the government spoke it was lies, it was obvious it was lying, and not one damn thing you could do about it.
FRUSTRATED YOUTH.
Then you get 'back'. And you don't fit ANYWHERE. Also before PTSD was realized to be real, and common. Then you were a malingerer when you couldn't cope.
Our government lead the change in public attitude toward the returned troops, (thanks to a lot of people who cared lobbying),BY GIVING THEM THEIR DUE RESPECT and treatment.
The VA services and benifits are bought, in some cases, with pounds of flesh.
I try not to forget that.

Spring is arriving on little cat's feet. Ever so softly, ever so stealthful. Winter is desperately trying to keep hold but her grasp is slipping away. I found this sprout of evergreen laying on the trail in the woods. I suspect some animal pulled it off the tree and I thought that it would make an interesting macro subject.

I included the setup that I used where you can see how I utilize small pieces of colored paper to create backgrounds. The light diffuser is two stacked 2-oz. Dixie Cups with a layer of paper towel between them.
Spring is arriving on little cat's feet. Ever so ... (show quote)

I thought that fog crept in on little cat's feet.
I have many different light sources. All different, all do a job. But I must admit the Ikea lights give a lot of bang for the money.
Idea for subjects. As tiny 'weeds' start to bloom, carry a few containers and a trowel with you. Take samples home to stage. Even if I could kneel easily, I still prefer this method. A six inch drywall trowel works well.
See you in a few on private, Gary.
G'nite to all .

Nicely shot.
Does anyone remember when anoles, Red eared sliders with painted backs, Horned 'toads', alligators, and at Easter you could get dyed bunnies and chicks from the local 5&dime? And real coonskin hats.
They sold 'ant eggs', realy ant cocoons with pupa DRIED, to feed the poor anoles.
There were a lot of constipated anoles out there, I tell you.
I am glad that stopped, tho.

Thanks, I've not been too adept at the ID sites, must be how I approach the questions.

Be very literal in your description. That helps. Other than that, I am no help. I still use books and keys.

I need a basic camera that will handle making closeup photographs of jewelry and other small items to place in ads on internet sites. My phone does not take very good photos for this purpose. As this is not a big business, I cannot afford the recommended uglyhedgehog.com cameras. Isn't there an inexpensive camera, maybe even refurbished or good quality used, that will meet my needs for closeups and has an image stabilizer?

If this is the only need for a camera is in your business, then maybe investigate add on lenses to your phone.
They work. A sampling, no more than twenty dollars for the lenses used.
Shop Ebay first, prices, not quality, vary greatly.

I’ve several photos I’d like printed, suitable for framing. Any suggestions of services I can look into?

If you have one near, Sam's Club does a fine job (opinion). Up to 24x36, I believe.
Shop while you wait.
Not to your liking, no obligation to pay.

And an hour later, or is that earlier?
Glad I am retired. What's an hour give or take sixty minutes?

That's alright. I am looking for some feather wing beetles, Ptillidae, or some fairy flies, Mymàridae. Realy wasps in the Super family Chalcidòidea. Egg parasites.
Most of these are a mm or so in length. Is this cruel? Nah, he enjoys a challenge.
I, for one, am getting a lot out of his efforts, and his friendship.

These are called inch worms in the US.
I am all for renaming them 2.54mm worms.

Can't wait to see the kids from this tryst. Horny and fuzzy, faces only Mom can love.

I think the unknown larva is a midge larva (Chironomidae). See https://bugguide.net/node/view/1584973
The water louse is especially interesting. This is an aquatic isopod. The more familiar species are terrestrial, but actually isopods are crustaceans.

Bad enough to misidentify, but to miss by an order???
It does clear up the question the 'odd' behavior of the specimen left in my mind.
Moved 'odd' for an aquatic beetle larva, mostly predatory, so alert.
Sorry for misleading you, Brenda.
