I have not only been able to transfer warranties but I have received warranty work. Sounds like something stinks in Denmark.

Nikon warranty's are transferable. Go to the Nikon web site, it will have somewhere listed "register product". If your lens has a 5 year warranty and you do not know when it was purchased and or you do not have a receipt, it doesn't matter. You register your product (provided it is a USA model). It will ask you where you purchased it, I have used my favorite camera store's name. YES, if there is time left on your lens warranty from the first owner, you will receive the balance of the warranty. I have done this with several lenses I got from EBay. Good luck, and go Nikon, where the equipment is never Under inflated.

Fuji newest, X100T, only 1300.00 but you get a fixed focal length lens for that investment. A f2 lens. WOW

I have been Nikon for 40 years. If all Nikon can muster is 6 fps on a 7200 and Canon is 10 fps on the new D7 Mark II and canon has a new 400 f4 and a new 100-400 I may finally make the switch to Canon.

The nice thing about the D800 is the IQ. I photographed a Northern Harrier about two years a ago using the old version of the 80-400 lens from about 50 yards. Had to blow up the image to get her close. Because of the 36 megs the results were outstanding. And you can pick up a good used D800 for a good price.

I have had a filter on all my lenses for over 40 years. Did wedding photography for 30 years. I have dropped lenses several times over the years and the filter saved three of those lenses from serious damage, filter cracked, but not the lens. Good, cheap, insurance. Sure, many will say you see a drop in image quality. But all of my photo contest winners were taken with lenses with filters on. I have not noticed any drop in IQ for using a filter. But then again, I concentrate more on the final result than on lens chart tests. It all comes down to what you are comfortable with. The choice is yours.

In macro mode set to apperature priority at f4 and the broken is fantastic with this lens at 210mm. Very sharp lens for the price. If you can get it, a 28-135mm is another sharp old Minolta auto focus lens you can mount on any Sony A77 on A99.

I have used many manfrotto mono pods in the past. I currently use a 6808 manfrotto mono pod and a manfrotto MH-054MO-Q2 ball head. Went to B&H and went on stimulus overload looking at all of the ball heads. The reason I went with the 054 was because it felt right for me. I liked the tension adjustment, you can adjust the tension for the lens you are using, lets you move the lens but not so loose that it moves on its own. Plus this ball head has a plastic insert so that it is not metal on metal moving, it is a plastic sleeve between two pieces of metal moving. It also has a quick release so you can have the plate on both lenses and lets you switch lenses easily. I have used up to a Minolta 600mm f4 on a Sony A99 on this combo and works well for me.

I shoot Sony and Nikon, been a Nikon guy since my first FTN in 1969. We are now in Florida for a while so I break down a get the wife a Sony DSC-HX400V. I have been watching for a sale, when they dropped it $100.00 with case and card I ordered one. Came last week and "I" tested it this morning. While walking on the beach I noticed an American Kestrel on a roof about 100 yards away, so I zoom out to 1200 mm and hand held the attached shot. I am not saying it is extremely sharp, but I do not own a 1200 mm Zeiss T star lens except for the one on this camera.
Now, I must find a way to re-wrap the camera for my wife on Christmas. Or, should I test it some more ? Just to make sure everything works, would not want the wife to be disappointed. HUMMMMMMM

And your reply is typical of this site. I have used plastic ND filters for 40 years, blow my shots to 30X40 and they are beautiful. Your statement is your opinion, and in this case, you are wrong. Plastic ND filters for my application of blurring water work just as well as glass.

I shoot a lot of shots using neutral density plastic square filters. I am looking for a plastic neutral density to fit the front of my Nikon 14-24mm zoom. My smaller filters do not cover at 14mm. I would need a least a 4 inch by 4 inch plastic #8 neutral density filter. My smaller ones are not expensive, they can scratch easily but they are cheap and I can replace them. Anyone know of a source for cheap 4X4 or 6X6 filters. And yes, cheap plastic filters are just as good as glass ones, they work really great, especially on water movement.

My home owners policy covers loss of equipment. My old high risk insurance covered drops but did not cover mechanical, this high risk insurance was very expensive. My current home owners insurance covers loss or theft only and covers it against loss in my home or away from home. In my forty years of photography I have only dropped a camera once, and by the way, in my opinion, all drops are due to pilot error, in other words, if you had been taking your time and being carful, you would not drop a $1000.00 + piece of camera gear. Of course, there will be folks who will reply that it was not their fault. And that my friends, is the problem with todays society. It is always someone elses fault, never mine.
