I shoot Sony and Nikon, been a Nikon guy since my first FTN in 1969. We are now in Florida for a while so I break down a get the wife a Sony DSC-HX400V. I have been watching for a sale, when they dropped it $100.00 with case and card I ordered one. Came last week and "I" tested it this morning. While walking on the beach I noticed an American Kestrel on a roof about 100 yards away, so I zoom out to 1200 mm and hand held the attached shot. I am not saying it is extremely sharp, but I do not own a 1200 mm Zeiss T star lens except for the one on this camera.
Now, I must find a way to re-wrap the camera for my wife on Christmas. Or, should I test it some more ? Just to make sure everything works, would not want the wife to be disappointed. HUMMMMMMM

Actually, I think it focused on the roof instead of the bird and that is why it does not look razor sharp. The roof brick is very sharp.

Great photo...your wife is going to love it! That is...if she can pry it out of your hands ;-)
For those who haven't bought the super zoom yet, the Canon refurb SX50 is still 200 bucks at the Canon website. Sony a fine choice, but at 200 bucks, hard to go wrong with the SX50.

Do this. This way you have matching toys, I mean cameras
Don't tell her about it....buy her the earrings!

I wonder if that camera keeps track of the number of shutter clicks. Your wife might wonder why you bought her a used camera with 12,000 pictures taken. :D
Same thing happened to me, so I bought her new tires for her car instead. Have fun with a very impressive camera.

I'm sure that was right on top of her list, with a cordless drill #2. :D

She'd probably rather have a Dremel while you're at it or a new steam iron. A steam mop for the kitchen floor is another option. It depends upon how much you value your marriage. :-)

And don't forget the ol reliable new Steam Iron and adjustable Board! OR, the end all (literally) a robotic Vacuum Cleaner!
I suggest the ear rings AND perfume. Save the camera as a "here's something else I thought you'd like" after lunch opener.
