I would take my 24-70mm 2.8, 70-200mm f 2.8, a walk around 18-300mm, a 300mm 2.8 for those eagles, a 200-400mm for those shots when you don't know the distance to the wildlife, or course a 600mm f4 for the eagles, a 10-20mm for those interior shots, don't forget the 60mm and 105 mm micro's for close ups of flowers, the new 20 mm 1.8 for those dimly lit interiors, the new 400mm f2.8 for the eagles, the 80-400 mm walk around for wildlife, and my favorite, the 800mm for those eagle shots. And by all means take large pelican cases so that you can take all this with you lest you miss a shot. Heaven forbid. Good luck and happy shooting. The tip is a once in a life time.

The police have every right to question whoever they feel might have something to do with the fires. Sounds like someone was starting them. Sometimes those who start the fire return to watch and take pictures. You should come down off you high horse and expect to be questioned. Don't have such a hard shell, lighten up a bit, the police have a tough job, don't make it harder by calling the station and saying you have a right to photograph them in a public place, as far as I am concerned, you sound like a whining photographer with nothing to do but complain. Lighten up before you have a heart attack.

With technology moving quickly Nikon will be out soon with a new flag ship. But Nikon will also bring out a new step down flagship model. In this case, it will be the 820, it will have similar features of the flagship but not all. It will be aimed as always at the advanced photographer. It will be priced at a point of savings over the flagship model. Nikon has done this well for over 60 years. Giving the non pro an option to feel like a pro and not break the bank. With this said my old 800 needs a face lift, can't wait.

Nikon Action binoculars are the best at their price point. You can get a pair of 8X40 on sale around 50.00. If you want to spend more, right now on ebay you can get a pair of Nikon Monarch 5 10X40 for 256.00, a great price and free shipping. But hurry, they are going fast.

The Nikon 105 2.8 Macro is way better..
I respectively disagree with your statement. I own both lenses and both are equally sharp. Both have their place. Your response suggests that the 60 is not as good as the 105, which, by the way, is a suggestive response and not based on fact or tested data.

I own this lens and use it to take photo's of stuff I put on E-bay. It is extremely sharp and have owned it for years, it was one of the first AF lenses I owned. Used to own the manual focus version of this lens for years. It is one of the few lenses that I would never consider selling. I suggest as always getting your used Nikon glass as close to Mint as you can. You will not be disappointed if you decide to buy one.

Was in Italy 4 weeks in 2013. Only took two camera's, both pocket cameras attached to packs on my belt. Usually only took one with me at a time. 90% of the time I had a Sony DSC-XH50V. This camera could do almost everything my Sony A99 could do and deliver very sharp photo's. The camera does not call attention to you so you do not stick out, I could hold it close to me and just shoot without having to look at the back of the camera, got great candid shots that way, I could crop later. No camera around your neck, just a little guy doing a big job. My other camera was a Sony RX100 II, this camera is outstanding, I use this model because this version has a hot shoe and I can attach my smaller flash and take balance fill flash outside or at sunset and get beautiful results. I will tell you that the Sony DSC-XH30V is also a great value and you can get in on Ebay.

Last year I was taking photo's of Great Blue Heron babies, many nests close, really great for photographers. Then the Wood Storks came in at the end of the Blue Heron season, any baby Blue Heron not able to flee or fly by that time were eliminated by the Wood Storks that took over the Blue Heron nests. As they say, only the strong and quick survive.

I have shot with this lens. Very sharp, heavy, but that is to be expected with a fast lens. The finish on this lens is also unique, they made several lenses in this finish, one of them being the 200mm micro and I think an 80-200 and a 85mm 1.4? Anyway I digress, this lens is very sharp, you will enjoy it. Yes, it will work fine on the D800.

Ebay is not that expensive and has good results. If you have never used it and you would have a 0 rating that could cost you some sales but if the pictures are good you will sell it in no time.

Putting older, no longer used very good lenses on new SLR bodies is really a good idea. Don't forget fellow hoggers that the old Minolta AF lenses work without an adaptor needed on Sony's new generation of DSLR camera's like the A77II and others. These old Minolta lenses have excellent, rich, color that the newer lenses cannot match.

I use super cheap 3X3 plastic filters that I hand hold over my 16-35 Nikon f4 lens on a D800 with super results. Why would you pay more for being around water and the elements? My whole pack cost me less than $20.00 and included 30 filters via amazon, and yes, many of my photo's have won photo contests and have been printed to 16X24, my standard display size. I know most will disagree with me. "How could I put such cheap stuff over an expensive lens?" But, my results speak for themselves, I will continue to sink money into expensive lenses and let the awards and sales fall where they may.

My first 300 was a used Minolta 300 2.8 for my Sony A77, got it for 900.00 and it was in great condition, did not have the focus lock buttons but was, is, super sharp and very fast. Have it on a black rapid attached to the lens collar which is upturned to the top position. Not extremely heavy and easy to hold. Yes, focuses fast.
My other 300 2.8 VR II, is the Nikon, it is also very fast but a little bit heavier than the Minolta, I like the color orientation of the Minolta, very rich colors, if I put the Nikon on Vivid, I get a similar result. Please do not go cheap on a 300 2.8, their are enough great deals on used to make it within your budget.
