I bought a Fotodiox adapter to allow Canon FD lenses on
Nikon DSLRs. I have a Canon FD 1.4 lens that has been
laying around for a few years to use on it. It does focus to
infinity and it works but it is like a 2X TC. I will just have to
play with it and post some results later. It's like shooting a film camera again, everything is manual.

You are welcome Robert, I am sure there is a lot of us out
there that have some old FD lenses laying around that we
could put to good use.

Even though it work and it focuses, the pictures are way too
dark and when you open up the aperture, it looks hazy.
Really not worth the money IMO. Sorry for getting your
hopes up.

Thanks for the heads up..... Lens goes back on the shelf as a relic/decoration!

not so fast, that's just one opinion. I have 3 of them for my sony a-850. mounted on a 135mm f2.8, a 200mm f2.8, and a 400mm f4.5. my results are "wow". and some are in the gallery on this site. wide open the images are clear , focus wide open and stop down to shoot. as I use them out of doors in mostly sunny situations, I have no trouble framing the subject. back in the day these were some of their better lenses, I couldn't afford them then , give me a little while and i'll post a few on this post.

Putting older, no longer used very good lenses on new SLR bodies is really a good idea. Don't forget fellow hoggers that the old Minolta AF lenses work without an adaptor needed on Sony's new generation of DSLR camera's like the A77II and others. These old Minolta lenses have excellent, rich, color that the newer lenses cannot match.

right on, I have two G lenses plus their matching tc's for my a-850, I swear by them. I have samples of them somewhere in the gallery too.

I have a few old Minolta lenses and have a Canon adapter but I have a long way to go in getting any shots worth saving much less posting. All 9f you have posted some awesome shots. The boat shots are great.

Do you think the Pro Optic adapter gives a cleaner image? I've got the Fotodiox FD => EOS adapter, and I'm not that thrilled with the sharpness. My kit lenses that came with my T3 are better. Is it just a difference in the old glass vs. new glass, or would the Pro Optic adapter be better for IQ?
