It's because it's not enough to like what you have. You also have to hate what you don't.

Sony, Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Windows, Macs, broccoli, spinach......they all have haters. Poor souls.

I went this afternoon to Adorama & ordered the plate for my camera, another $60 some dollars & no free shipping.I am not a happy camper but I don’t think they care.I can’t believe that you spend over $600.00 for this head & they don’t include a plate to go with it.All my other ball heads have plates included.Like I said in one of my replies, the more money you pay for an item the less you get!

If you didn't like what you were getting for your $600.00, why did you buy it?

If you didn't know WHAT you were getting, shame on YOU.

Adorama is one of the top photo dealers. Your ignorance of what you are doing is not THEIR fault.

Yes but I was hoping I was wrong! When I ordered my other ball heads the plates came with them,so I guess the more you pay for an item the less is included!

You were HOPING? I'm hoping you are a more aware shopper from now on.

Was I wrong to assume this very expensive ball head came with a quick release plate? All my other less expensive ball heads came with release plates.I sent an email to Adorama asking if they forgot to send it.They are checking on it.What do u think,I will have to spend more money on the release plate, yeah so do I.

I think you should look at the ad for what you purchased to see what it says is included.

Recently I opted to sell my Nikon gear to one of the big New York camera stores. I sent in a list of my gear and received a preliminary estimate of $XYZ.00. I sent everything in and after 2 weeks I received a check for $XYZ.00. I was upset that apparently no second estimate had been done because my gear was brand new, unused, and spotless. When I wrote and asked why the preliminary and final amounts were the same, they wrote back that that was the way they did business, or words to that effect, and that I could take it or leave it. Painfully I agreed to take it, rather than go through the whole process with another company or two or three. My question: has anyone else gone through a similar experience?

What exactly are you complaining about? The dealer made an offer, you sent in your stuff, and they paid what they offered.

If you want to shop around for a better offer, do it BEFORE accepting the first offer.

Also keep in mind that a dealer can change their offer downwards after seeing your stuff. This is the way ALL used dealers operate, and it is perfectly legit and reasonable. Your idea of "brand new, unused and spotless" may have been somewhat exaggerated.

When placing an order with us you can usually select FedEx or UPS or USPS, depending on the item you ordered and the destination. The downside is you may lose the free shipping option.

You reinforced what I said. Thank you.

If you were doing a technical drawing and you had a dull #2 pencil OR a 5mm Pentel drawing pencil - which one would you choose?
I would choose the one that let me get the most sharp detail. Same with pixels - the more you have in a given area, the sharper the picture. The sharper the picture, the bigger you can make it.

Are you viewing the technical drawing from 18 inches, or 20 feet away?

What you NEED as far as sharpness, resolution, megapixels, fineness of grain, or whatever criteria, depends. NEED is not an absolute. It is qualitative, not quantitative.

Quarterback Tom Brady is officially a Free Agent. Winner of 6 Superbowl's. He hasn't said if he will play for another team. Rumor, says the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are wanting him. Is there one more Superbowl left in Tom, who is now 42 years old?

Who gives a damn? So some other team will pay him millions and hope he holds up. If there is an NFL season in the near future. You've heard about Coronavirus, right?

Saw one of his news conferences yesterday and a guy was standing in the isle holding one camera and had two more on straps with the big white lenses. As soon as Trump walked in he just held the button down and I’m sure it was a 1DX 2 or 3 as it sounded like a machine gun. All the while Trump was talking he held the button Down. I can’t imagine how many thousands and thousands of phots he took. It would take me weeks just to get them into Lightroom not counting even reviewing them all. Seems crazy to me but I don’t know much.

Ever see how fashion photographers work? Firing off continuously while a model is moving around. That's why there are/were 250-shot film magazines in the "old" days. Taking many many shots allows an editor to pick just the right one for the advertisement or magazine cover.

The desire to catch one of Trump's stupid expressions at the right moment is the same thing.

But B&H only uses FedEx.

Not true. They use a variety of shippers, at their discretion. You CAN ask for a specific shipper, and it could cost you more.

I was told this by them after complaining about an Airborne shipment from NJ to central NY that sat in Ohio for a week before transferring to USPS.

Thank you for the link and i have read it many times and if thats the case then it means i would need to have a 78 megapixel camera to produce the size photos i preferr. however i have been able to produce them with a 26 megapixel camera some with better results then others.

One major factor not mentioned is WHAT WILL BE THE VIEWING DISTANCE of the print?

For example, an uncropped print made from a 16 MP image versus one made from a 54 MP image. The pixels of the 16 MP print will be less visible/discernible at 10 feet than at 18 inches.
Pixels on the 54 MP image may not be discernible at all at 18 inches.

So you can get away with lower MP images if they will be high up on a wall, or across a room.

Hi! My name is Larry, and I am a photography enthusiast!
My photos could definitely use some work as far as composition is concerned, but my true passion is my collection of over 50 film cameras most of which work perfectly. Minolta’s are my favorite, but I have a variety of cameras from all makes and models. Nothing crazy or expensive but just ones I like.
My digital camera is a Sony A6500. I love it’s low light capabilities, especially with some of my old Minolta 1.4 and 1.4 glass.
Unfortunately, my time is limited and living here in NJ, the weather is mostly gray and dreary. So, my photography time is limited. I look forward to more interaction with the Ugly Hedgehog community.
Be safe with all this Corona virus hysteria….

Very nice. You sound like my kind of collector. I "only" have about 30 film cameras in my collection, all fully working, majority Canon, then Nikon, then assorted other interesting individuals.

Don't let anyone tell you, as has been the case on a recent topic, that you shouldn't USE your old collectibles because you should be safeguarding your "investment". My cameras are not an investment. They are things that I love to handle, admire, look at, etc. I have a pile of outdated B&W film acquired various places and have bought chemicals to process it, so I will be putting my old jewels to use!
