I am considering this lens also for the Nikon D850 and D500. The reviews I looked at are very positive with the only negative being AF in low light. The only Sigma Art lens I currently have is the 135 F1.8 and the auto focus and sharpness are as good or better than any Nikon lens I have ever used, that lens never disappoints.

The Fuji is very nice and will probably be an even better camera by the end of the year since Fujifilm actually listens to customers and puts out firmware updates to improve existing cameras. I am surprised Nikon put out a firmware update that adds a feature that should have been on there to begin with, maybe they are actually listening to customers.

I have a mint condition D7000 with very low shutter count and the original box, I ment to sell it a year ago but I haven’t gotten around to it. Let me know if you are interested.

I have used the 70-200 with extension tubes and it will produce a nice image. I enjoy macro work too. In case you did not know, that lens suffers from some serious focus breathing so you will lose some focal length when close focusing. It won’t beat the Tamron 90 macro, that lens is excellent and just as good as the Nikon 105 micro. I own several macro lenses, the Nikon 60 G, 105 D, Sigma 150, Tamron 180 and the Fuji 80 macro on the X-T3 body. The Fuji 80 is the best macro lens that I have worked with, a really nice image and super fast auto focus.

I have shot soccer and motocross, but mostly outdoor portraits. I switch between the 70-200, 105 DC Nikkor and my Sigma 135, 1.8 Art lens.

I have had this lens since it first came out, have used it on the D800, D810 and now the D850. Besides excellent sharpness don't forget fast autofocus, and a very good stabilizer too.

Thanks for posting this. I have a Fuji X-T2 and am considering a Fuji macro of some sort. Will consider the Fuji 80mm macro. I have a Nikon D750 and was also thinking about the Nikkor 105 but I am leaning more toward the X-T2 with a macro because of size and weight - the Fuji being much lighter and smaller.

The Fuji 80mm is actually larger than the AF Micro Nikkor 105mm f2.8 D (non vr) and slightly heavier too.

I have the Fuji 80mm macro and it is awesome! It resolves more detail than my Nikon 60 and 105. It’s currently $300 off at all Fuji authorized dealers.

I still have one of those too and the massive Majestic tripod goes up higher than any other tripod and is still sturdy.

I have both Nikon (D750) and Fujifilm X-T2. I have only one lens (18-55) for the Fujifilm but am thinking about some sort of macro Fuji lens for the X-T2 rather than a macro lens for the D750. I do like the Fujifilm camera. Basically all metal, lighter and smaller than the Nikon.

And very exciting to use!!!

The 50mm Nikkors have never been considered to be that great. I own the Nikon 50 1.2, 1.4 & 1.8 along with the Tamron 45 and the Tamron gets the most use, although lately my new Fujifilm system has taken over.

I used my 10-24 a lot until Fuji relegated my FF Nikon gear to a closet for the most part.

Cheers!

I am in the same boat, I picked up an X-T3 and 3 lenses just to try it out, now it has grown to 11 lenses and I am looking for a second body. My FF Nikon gear is sitting and wondering what happened.

I picked this lens up recently and have been shooting with it for the last 2 weeks and it is not heavy. Compared to the Nikon 200-500, Tamron 150-600 or any of the Sigma big zooms it is easy to carry around and hand hold. Image quality is as good or better, it focuses fast and the stabilizer is excellent.

You have all top end lenses but even the less expensive lenses I have are excellent- 55-200 mm, 23 and 35 mm f2. I no longer have but also excellent are the 14 and 18 mm lenses. Thanks and looking forward to your report.

I also have 23mm f2 and the 18-55 kit lens mostly used for video on a gimble and the 55-200 for walking around in the woods. I went to Yosemite on New Year’s Day to test the 10-24mm f4, I got it used and the price was right, nice lens, too bad it’s f4. They are all great lenses. I will also be testing the Laowa 9mm f2.8 and the Rokinon 12mm f2 cine version, I’ll share my findings with you.
