The background is distracting. Use a wider arperture

We were there 3 years ago for two days. Spectacular, there are trails to walk and see all the falls. You need wide angle and short tel. Food in the park, not so good.

Of course, where else? You simply misunderstood. But I stand by my reboot, with printer power off and reset everything.

First, the exposure seems different on the two photos.
I print with a 3 pt. stroke border for two reasons; 1.) it does set off the print (particulalrly when there is some white next to the border) and adds depth when matted with 1/4 inch of white paper showing, 2.) it gives the viewers eye a black point so they can tell that you have a pure black in the image.

I had a similar problem with my 3880. Try reboot with the printer power off. then turn on the printer and reset all printer dialog boxes.

I’m thinking of Milky Way with the 17-35 2.8. One stop is the difference between iso 2,000 and 4,000 or more. Most of my landscape work is st 35 or wider and 35 is a nice lens for environmental portrait.

I am going to South Africa and Botswana next month and am trying to decide what kit to bring. We will be doing some sightseeing in Cape Town and at Victoria falls but the majority of the trip is centered around three safaris in upscale private camps in Sabi Sand (next to Kruger N.P.), Okavango Delta and Makgadikgadi Salt Pans(Kalahari desert). In all of these, off roading is the standard so you can often get quite close to the game. I plan on doing the usual nature work, some birding, landscape and night photography. Weight limits on the small planes are an important consideration. Also, changing lenses while in the bush is not desirable due to dust etc

My current kit includes: Nikon D850, 70-200 f 2.8, 24-70 f 2.8 and a 16-35 f 4 plus SB 900flash, 1.4 and 2.0 nikon tel extenders and a canon G15. I am thinking of renting a D500, 17-35 f2.8 and 80-400. and leaving the 24-70 and 16-35 at home. I would generally pair the D500 with the 80-400 for reach. During most game drives I would mount the 70-200 on the D850 for close in and low light nature work. The 17-35 f2.8 would be for landscape and night photography. I would bring the 1.4 tel extender "just in case".

I considered renting a second D850 so I would have two of the same with which I am very familiar but decided the extra reach (yes I know you can select a crop sensor size on the 850), saves me some money and I assume the menus are very similar on the two bodies.

My questions are:
1.) Does this make sense and what am I missing?
2.) If someone with experience uses both a D500 and D800, are there any tripping points?
3.)Is cropping a D850 at 200mm to the same field of view as a D500 at 300mm equivalent result in inferior images?
4.) With the flash on my little Canon for after dinner interiors and other snaps, do I have any need for a flash?
Thanks for your consideration.

I've never used the Lightroom Book module...anyone have experience with this? I've always used Adoramapix for my photo books and LOVE the quality...just wondering about the quality of Blurb books, is it comparable? Sure would save a few steps if I could do directly from Lightroom.... Thanks in advance for any experience with Blurb you can share with me.

I have made many blurb books and a few shutterfly books. We prefer the Blurb quality, frequent sales and customer service. If the printing isn't to your liking, they will reprint even if it was your fault.

I have always used B&H. They pay you about 50% of what they sell it for but it is no hassle. If selling multiple items on eBay they could be baught by multiple parties requiring multiple runs to PO for shipping. Don’t forget insurance. And then there is the collection risk and potential returns to deal with. Of course eBay isn’t free. Maybe a hassle free transaction with certainty is worth 50%.

I've posted a few images and comments about my Sony RX 10 IV. I have so much to learn about the camera.
OK, how many of your would admit to these f--- ups?
1. Took 200 images in Prague, in extremely hot weather (90+ degrees), and discover I had no card inserted. BTW: they were wonderful images.
2. Took about the same number of images in Vienna and discovered no card in the camera.
3. My wife was sick in Budapest so we spent a day in the hotel room. No images.
4. We had one more day after our tour ended (today). Hired a private driver and guide to take us around the city, specifically for photo scenes and vantage viewpoints. He was terrific and added history of the country as we drove from site to site. Fabulous sites!!! Fabulous images!! Get back to hotel, paid him $180 & a $40 gratuity for three hours. Could not wait to get back to hotel room to review the images. Guess what? No images!! For the 3rd time, NO Card!!

I could not understand why I did not receive a "no card" warning and how the camera took images without a card. Took out the book (Alexander White) and discoverd I had not enabled the feature in the voluminous menu. DUH!! DUH!!. My father, only in jest, used to day to me, "you're getting dumber by the day"! He was right!!

We all make mistakes. I had a morning shoot and came home to import them. I was so excited as the images built on the screen that I started looking at them. I had another shoot in an hour so I popped the card out of the reader, put it in my camera and formatted the card. Then I realized that I never hit the import button - all gone!!!

No lectures please or how to prevent such mistakes. I've been whipped enough.

I'll soon recover and forgive myself.
Mark

You probably need to calibrate your screen and turn its brightness down.

Until it has been deemed safe in Cuba, which may never happen, I would take a very cheap pocket camera that I would not miss when it was stolen or confiscated. I obviously am not secure about going into a communist country.

I spent a week in Havana with a day trip to Vinales two years ago. I had my full D800 kit but never felt the need for anything beyond 35 mm f1.4. I left my 70-200, 24-70 and 16-35 in the hotel room. I did plenty of street photography (including night) and never felt threatened walking around alone. Most people are very friendly and like to have their picture taken. If they say no ar ask for money, just walk away. Tourism is not new to Cuba. Europeans have been going there for years.
