I wish I could take bad photos like that!!! Maybe one day you will be critiquing the "experts" photos.
I am not usually drawn to B&W photos but this presentation is excellent. It really works with this very cool bench.
Yes, I removed mine to use a cup. It does tell you in the manual how to remove it. I'm sure google can help also.
I use that lens on a D500 and it is very sharp especially on a cropped frame camera. Get yourself a Sigma dock and fine-tune it to your Nikon body. It looks like it is a new lens so you can always send it back to Sigma just to rule out you didn't get a bad lens (if your not able to calibrate with the Dock)
Sorry Dave I have not been to Utah yet but if I had I would be more than happy to share my experiences with you. I am sure you have done your own research but there is nothing like getting information from someone that has been there recently. Yes, info on Google, etc. is great but I have found it overwhelming and inaccurate at times so hopefully, someone on UHH will share their knowledge of the area with you.
I normally get distracted with a busy photo but not this one. Beautiful setting!!!
No way that is going to hold up in a decent wind.
Quick update:
I put my Dell ultrasharp 24 inch IPS monitor next to the 32 in BenQ VA monitor and looked at the best of my photos in Lightroom. I see no difference in the colors. I had my daughter, who does design work where color is extremely important, look at it and she could not see a difference.
The big difference is when you look at the VA monitor from the side (at least a 45-degree angle or more). In that case, the colors mute and you lose contrast. When I edit or view my screen for anything, I am never looking at it from the side so in this case the IPS monitor is no better than the VA. Very happy with my purchase!!!
Thanks for all of your replies. I decided that choosing a monitor is a personal taste so I went ahead and ordered the VA 32 inch BenQ figuring I could return it if I didn't like the colors.
I got the monitor last night and here is what I have determined. Maybe the colors are not 100 percent accurate but when I compare them to my 24 in IPS screen, I can not readily determine the difference. All of my LR photos look fantastic and pretty darn close to what I remember seeing when I took the photos.
I have my eyes on a BenQ 32in. 2K curved monitor. It has a 144 hz refresh rate, a 4 msec response time, and it covers 90% DCI P3 so it will be fantastic for my level of gaming (non-competitive). It is a VA monitor so I am worried about its photography capabilities as it relates to color. I don't necessarily need accurate colors as I don't print photos but I don't want totally unrealistic colors either.
I have researched this extensively but I need someone's opinion who has used both IPS and VA monitors for Lightroom, Photoshop, etc. Being that I don't print photos, will the VA monitor be an issue for photo editing for someone who is an avid photo enthusiast?
I went out to Best Buy to look at both monitors but I could not do a head-to-head comparison looking at identical photos side by side.
