Great way to start the morning. Thanksπ
Thought the first one didn't post...another reason they didn't let me launch missles in the Army.
I have a 2011 BMW that we leave in Florida for 3 months at a time without a trickle charger. Like MB, the battery is in the trunk. Ever had a problem. That said, I killed all insurance except comprehensive on the newer BMW here in Ohio but still start the car & run it for a while. An ounce of prevention never hurts & like previous comments, the quality, age and where & how often the car is used are all factors.
Loved it on two levels. I was an Army motion picture photographer (MOS 84c20). The training film was produced by the Army Pictorial Center. I was assigned to the European "branch" of The APC.
On the second level, our youngest son's father-in-law is a retired 'full bird' who flew helicopters and fixed wing in VN. He is a member of a VN helicopter pilot's association which meets in Alaska annually. I just forwarded him the link for this video. I'm sure it will bring back memories. Thanks for posting.
I have found File Manager HD to be a very useful tool for locating and moving files. I assume you are copying mp3 files to your Android. Remember also when looking for the file you have to search using the exact name.
Thanks for the tip. Who knew? I didn't!
I always thought I'd retire at 62. Then the 401k went bust. I ended up working until 69 and it paid off. Higher 401k. Higher Social Security and no real worries. The wild card is health. So far I've been lucky. I enjoy being able to do what I want to do & avoid those things that I can't or don't want to do. More time for family, friends travel and hobbies. What's not to like. Enjoy life while you can. You never know what's around the corner and if none of this suits you take joy where you find it.
I've had good luck with pdfforge
As always "good stuff". Thanks for the memories.
I was drafted just after I finished college in 1966. I wasn't particularly gung ho but my Dad, a combat medic in the 78th Infantry in WWII said "As long as you don't end up in the infantry it will probably be good for you".
My Army mos was 84c20, motion picture photographer, I trained with 15 guys, half Marines at Ft. Monmouth. I was the only guy who went to Germany. All the others went to Nam. I learned about 15 years ago that one of those Marines, William T. Perkins, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor postumously.
I was lucky but like anyone in Germany, Korea or anywhere in those days or today, things could change very quickly.
My time in the Army was my "time away" at college and has created bonds with guys which still exist after 50 years. Membership in the American Legion has formed additional bonds and love of country.
All that said, I believe after all these years that a draft for some kind of service should be mandatory. Too few appreciate the service, protection and sacrifices of the 1%.
Another benefit would be with more people with 'skin in the game' there would be more dialogue (even protest) re: the wisdom of entering a conflict or continuing in endless wars.
Pressure on our elected officials from more people with families with 'skin in the game' could create a more equitable application of our Country's military foreign policy.
My first memory of Carmen McRae was her role as a lounge singer in the film "Hotel". That movie made me a fan. I have many of her CD's, records and MP3s. She is not widely known except by true lovers of jazz. One of the best.
