It wasn't on the news because it was more or less kept secret. And that's a problem. When a plane flies to 750 feet of the ocean at 250 MPH, I'd like to find and correct whatever caused it.

Well you are going to have a hard time correcting the weather. United was not the only airline that had trouble that day, other airlines flying or departing Hawaii also had problems and I have not heard if they reported to the FAA. The only reason this is coming to light is that it started showing up on social media either from passengers or crew members.

Because no one was killed or injured in these events, neither the FAA nor NTSC investigated. The planes recorded all the data, but it took a while for those in authority to become aware. In other words, hundreds of people were almost killed, but it was kept secret.

On December 18, a United 777 took off from Hawaii. After reaching 2,200 feet, it took a rapid plunge toward the sea, at about 250 MPH. When it got to 740 feet - traveling at 250 - the pilots were able to pull up steeply. This generated about 2.5 Gs, which is above the design limit of the 777, so it should have been inspected immediately. There is no investigation, so we'll never know the whole story.

In a similar incident in Qatar, after a plane took off and got to 1,800 feet, it dove to around 800 feet before recovering. In that case, the previous aircrew had set the autopilot to zero because they were landing, and it was not reset before take-off. At 1,800 feet, the pilot flying turned on the autopilot, and the plane did what it was told - headed for ground "zero."

There is at least one more similar incident, but without an investigation, we'll never know what happened. One strange incident is an anomaly; several are a trend.

This guy is very good. He's a commercial airline pilot, so he knows what he's talking about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1B9mQQnZg_8

Jerry you are wrong about it not being reported. It was reported to the FAA as soon as it landed in SFO and the aircraft was taken out of service and inspected and given a clean bill of health for continued service. Anytime an aircraft is involved in an incident like/similar to this it is removed from the schedule and inspected and the results are reported to the appropriate agencies. Unless injuries or deaths are involved the NTSB will not be involved. By the way United Airlines is a self disclosure airline and as far as I know they are the only one that self discloses.

I recently had my 2017 Subaru legacy in to the dealers for ATF, ABS an a bunch of other lights that were tied into the ATF light an a noise coming from the right rear on sharp turns. They had the car for a week just trying to find the noise from the rear, it was not until they put it on a lift that they noticed that the right rear tire did a lean and when they rotated by hand they finally located the noise. It was the wheel bearing. Total repairs for the idiot lights and the noise came to 2704 and some odd cents and this was after a 50.00 dollar off coupon. Then the advisors tells me that the reason that the engine sounds loud when I start it is that the catayaltic (sp) convertor needs to be replaced. $2300.00 just for the parts. I asked why so much and he told me the convertor is welded to the headers and they both have to be replaced. I also have to make an appointment two weeks in advance so that they can ensure the part is on hand and they need two days to replace. One day for the car to cool down and one day to replace the convertor. The car has a single pipe out the back. Needless to say that is on hold until the state says I need to get it smogged.

You try white, (I think distilled) vinegar? I run some thru my $14 about 8yr old Mr. Coffee every 3-4 months or, when it starts to slow down. Cleans the lime build-up. My neighbor had the same problem with his Keurig & I told about the vinegar. His is still working. Also I have seen online that there is a special cleaner for coffee machines but never seen it in the store.

Target carries the cleaner for the coffee maker plus the filter for the water reservoir. The recommended cleaning cycle is after 60 cups. For me that winds up to be about every two weeks which I ignore. I use filtered water from my fridge plus the filter in the reservoir which I change out approximately every 3 months. I use the other cleaner when my wife starts getting onto be about the keurig needing g cleaning.

All proposed fines are negotiable, that is why the airlines have an army of lawyers on staff.

It's not lockout if you simply remove the battery or unplug it from the outlet. You need to lock it so nobody and install the battery or plug it in. Now I don't know how to lock the battery but for the plug you can lock it in a can.

You can lock the battery in a can also

Always unplug before doing any set up with power tools and if battery powered remove the battery. When removing the power source you guarantee that it will not accidentally start. It's called lockout and if you put a tag on it it's called lockout tagout.

My son that lives in Oklahoma has hit dear and cows on multiple occasions in both a company truck and his personal vehicle. All the hits have been in the early mornings. He hit a bull so hard that the testicles wrapped around his trucks axle (company truck).

Washing a check is similar to washing currency for the purpose of counterfeiting. With a check they are only removing certain information, with currency they are changing the denomination of the bill using the legal currency paper.

I like it and great example. That phrase comes up in safety talks I've given over the years. We get so focused on what we are doing that we lose awareness of our surroundings.

it is also in the lower left hand corner and it looks like snakes to me

Jerry, the high cost of not eating is analogous to the benefits of Not Raising Hogs (for farmers)...

TO: Honorable Secretary of Agriculture Washington, DC

Dear Sir:

I have been evacuated from New Orleans because the flood took my old trailer and beat up car. I thought I might go into business to supplement my welfare check.

My friend over at Union, Iowa, received a check for $1,000 from the government for not raising hogs. Right now I'm getting extra help from the government and Red Cross while I'm displaced but when that stops I want to go into the "not-raising-hogs" business.

What I want to know is, in your opinion, what is the best kind of farm not to raise hogs on, and what is the best breed of hogs not to raise? I want to be sure that I approach this endeavor in keeping with all governmental policies. I would prefer not to raise razorbacks, but if that is not a good breed not to raise, then I will just as gladly not raise Yorkshires or Durocs. As I see it, the hardest part of this program will be in keeping an accurate inventory of how many hogs I haven't raised.

My friend, Peterson, is very joyful about the future of the business. He has been raising hogs for twenty years or so, and the best he ever made on them was $422 in 1968, until this year when he got your check for $1,000 for not raising hogs. If I get $1,000 for not raising 50 hogs, will I get $2,000 for not raising 100 hogs?

I plan to operate on a small scale at first, holding myself down to about 4,000 hogs not raised, which will mean about $80,000 the first year. Then I can afford an airplane.

Now another thing, these hogs I will not raise will not eat 100,000 bushels of corn. I understand that you also pay farmers for not raising corn and wheat. Will I qualify for payments for not raising wheat and corn not to feed the 4,000 hogs I am not going to raise?

Also, I am considering the "not milking cows" business, so send me any information you have on that, too. In view of these circumstances, you understand that I will be totally unemployed and plan to file for unemployment and food stamps. Be assured you will have my vote in the coming election.

Patriotically Yours,
Ima Taker

PS. please notify me when you are giving out more free cheese.

Don't laugh about that. Imagine having to carrying several gallons of water on a hike. With the dehydrated water, you just carry the powder and add water to reactivate it. Go ahead, try to figure out if I'm being serious.

I have been looking for dehydrated for years and haven't found it yet, let me know where you got yours.
