I like it and great example. That phrase comes up in safety talks I've given over the years. We get so focused on what we are doing that we lose awareness of our surroundings.

Don't know if it is a watermark or what... may be in lower left too... picture was copied from a Facebook post and the person posting it copied it...

On a more serious note, I can’t remember how many, but I once read about how many people die at the Grand Canyon after stepping off the edge or slipping on loose rock while taking selfies. Heck, people on their phones walk into light poles or in front of traffic. No email, Facebook post or text is important enough to die for.

Situational awareness is important. Once another driver I were both turning left at a traffic light and were both in the intersection. A young woman came flying up the road talking on her cell phone oblivious of her surroundings. She hit the other car right in the door post, bounced off him and ran up under the rear of the Paratransit bus I was driving.
