Thanks everyone. This will be my first and probably only trip to Costa Rica. I tried to book some activities via the the resort concierge but he doesn't answer the phone or respond to emails. So I am looking at activities through Trip Advisor which connects directly to the concessions. There is a 2 hour river trip to the Palo Verde State Park that looked interesting and a private reservation for sunset sailing that we might do. Several of the excursions are all day ones including the volcanoes. Some of the all day ones include combination multiple zip lines, horseback riding and long hikes which is an unlikely combination for us :) I'm sure we will find enough to do.
I am going to coast side of Costa Rica on March 1 (Tamarindo) for a wedding. Having never been there before and somewhat limited by wedding activities (no not mine) can anyone tell me of any can't miss photography activities you have personally experienced near by? Mostly interested in beach shots and definitely birds.
this is great!! Love drone shots. Did you have to get some type of license to fly it?
Looks like a Northern Shoveler to me. Mallards generally have yellow/orange bills. Nice in flight image- his colors show up well!

Nice photos!
All of my harriers have a definite white rump.
Seems to have the wrong head shape, also.
Almost appears as a Prairie Falcon, or some kind of Falcon.....?
That would be my thought too.
Hi- I like the brightness of the 2nd image however I don't care for the blue, bright tones that show up on my computer in the background. Perhaps if you kept the same tones in the background in the original and combined with the the brightness of the manipulated one? I like abstracted images and slow motion blurred images. I have been working on getting a flock of birds intentionally out of focus to look "right". And like others have said don't depend too much on our opinions.
Interesting, different and lovely images!

You got a super shot! Hawks are unpredictable - one minute they are there and the next gone. It seems to me there are significantly less hawks this year in Arizona. I'm not seeing many off Davis Rd or Route 191 this winter. Actually it seems like less birds all around - are they all in Green Valley??
He was in transportation.
Both my father and husband were career military - ft Huachuca was my fathers retirement assignment.

I love Sierra Vista and would live there if I could convince my wife. I made an offer two years ago
but the seller wouldn't back off on his asking... so, nearly made it. We camped at Tombstone Territories for
13 of the past 14 years.
There is also a nice park off Hwy 90 at the intersection of 83 if you ever want a change. It is S of Huachuca City and seems to be pretty full most of the year.
I have been in SV off and on since Jr High. Left to live in Colorado Springs for many years and then returned part time in 2012 and then full time permanent 15 months ago. Wasn't much here when I first arrived so many years ago! One main street, a couple of markets, bars and pawn shops, Sambo and a few other restaurants - and Kmart came later. Sears was here for many years.
It's a much nice place now.
We have had a really mild fall and winter and it has been more snake-y than usual. Personally I never put my hands or feet in or on any surface that isn't wide open and visible. Meaning in no taller grass, under or on rocks and I don't enter old abandoned caves or unoccupied buildings- that sort of thing. I make sure I have sturdy hiking boots when out in the desert. All common sense things. My dogs (except the pup) are snake trained. While snakes are common in the desert I have not seen any poisonous ones in the 10 years I have been here. The age group most likely to be bitten are males in the 18-35 year old group that attempt to pick a snake up- just read that lately.
