I see no need to get political about this post and have it sent to The Attic.

I had never heard the term "excess deaths" before, but Dr. Campbell (in England) used that term about statistics in England.

Yesterday, I saw an article in the Washington Post about excess deaths in the US during the pandemic. Over 910,000 people died from Covid, but the excess deaths totaled over 1,000,000, and they can be attributed to the pandemic. I don't mean someone who fell down the stairs or got hit by a car, but many people died as a result of Covid without getting the disease.

You should be able to read this article from a Google search without a subscription. As a test, I sent it to a friend, and he could read it.

All the covid deaths have been greatly exaggerated by the government which probably means that the "excess" deaths are too. I personally know of at least 2 people that died that had nothing to do with covid, but they were chalked up as a covid death. Remember, hospitals are profiting by calling it a covid related death.

Also, I think there are a lot of false positives when testing for covid. I can say this because many of the people that went to China for the winter Olympics have tested positive for covid but never got sick but still remained in quarantine for up to 10 days. I know this because a friend of mine is a photographer that does summer and winter Olympics and he decided at the last minute not to go. He is in touch with fellow photogs that did go and got quarantined in the 1 star hotel but never got sick. He was also in touch with many of the athletes that had the same thing happen.

Too bad her left hip is such a mess. I really can't determine if it's a tattoo or a bruise. Either way, it's bad. The rest of her is stunning.

Bob Saget bumped his head and thought nothing of it. He went to bed and never woke up. Comedian Steve Allen was in a minor traffic accident and bumped his head. He died shortly afterwards. These are not isolated examples.

If you bump your head, go to the ER. Maybe you'll be okay if you don't, but maybe you'll be dead.

A friend of a friend fell a short distance off a step ladder and hurt himself. The next day he couldn't get out of bed so he called 911. (he's a retired doctor) So the paramedics took him to the hospital where he used to have privilege's. He got worse, developed Covid, was intubated, and died 30 days later - cause of death, Covid. He admitted himself to the same hospital where he practiced for 35 years and they killed him. Ugh! All he had were bruises from the fall off the step ladder.

I came home today, and saw my wife packing her bags, I asked her where she was going. She said she found out that in the Netherlands there are places where men will pay $400 for what she does for me for free. A little later she's headed out and she notices me packing my bags, and asks me where was I going? I told her, " I'm following you, I want to see where you can live off $800 a year."

Leme guess, birthday and Christmas? LOL

Listen Up- there is NO Shame in upgrading your camera equipment even if only for GAS! If you want it and you can afford it then go for it. You don't need anyone's permission here to do that. You don't need anyone here setting limits on what you buy or how often you buy or if you should buy. If you have a closet full of unused equipment that is your business.

Will it make you a better photographer? Maybe or maybe not. But it will be fun to find out. New equipment will often push you forward to becoming better by the technical advances. It may help you see improvement which may be the catalyst for more improvement.

Why is it there is honor in using outdated equipment? It is often said here that my (really old) equipment works just fine. Well that's fine for you but don't use it as a measure of why someone else should not buy new.

It use to be fun here seeing members say "The Brown Truck is coming and then it fell out of favor followed by other members denigrating the purchase of new equipment. (yes- I have been on this forum for a long time) Why- why taint new equipment purchase with underlying negative judgement? There are real advances in new cameras now that can achieve results that older cameras can't- ISO improvement, focus, reduced size and weight, focus stacking, interval and video results and many other advances.

So let's not treat our members as children but as thinking adults. We should be responding to the implied question of what did you gain by updating not should I update. And GAS is ok.

I think some of those that diss someone that just purchased new stuff are just jealous or envious that they can't afford it or have another reason that they can't upgrade. It could also be that they don't want anyone to catch up to them. LOL

After not picking up the camera for over a year, I've decided to re- teach myself. Trying something different. Yes, no, maybe or throw the camera out the window?

If you're going to throw the 1DX MkII away, make sure that it's in my bin. I never expected to see you doing nudes. I love the lighting, but there is too much empty space at the top. The rest is very nice.

I am trying to decide between the Nikon D850, which I have ordered and the newest mirrorless. I have the Nikon D700, Nikon D7200 and Nikon D500. I mainly shoot wildlife and have the lens that fit these cameras. I have a lot o nice lens Nikon 200-500 among the one that I used the most. I have researched both cameras, but would like some wisdom from all of you. This will probably be my last camera as I am 70. Thanks you

I am sort of in the same boat as you Linda except that I'm a Canon user. My wildlife photography has sort of taken a back seat to some other things right now. Canon has some really nice mirrorless bodies, but I've already got some of the best lenses for my bodies with mirrors. It would cost me $30,000 to replace the lenses I have with lenses that are native to the Canon mirrorless bodies. Plus, the newest mirrorless body that isn't even out yet costs $6000. So, bottom line is I'm thinking of just sticking with the equipment I have and possibly buying a new used top of the line body with mirror, since prices will soon be dropping like a rock on those.

I could change my mind after I get back into wildlife photography. Good luck in your decision.

OK, I've been using PC's a long time. There's probably an easy way to do this, but I'm scratching my head. Look at the attached diagram and consider the (Windows) directory shown in the "Before" portion. How can I delete what's called Middle Directory without deleting the two Bottom Directories? Before you answer too quickly, assume that there's actually a thousand Bottom Directories, instead of two as shown. If you simply delete Middle Directory, you also delete its subdirectories. I'm thinking that there's either a command-line command or a free utility out there somewhere that can do this. Thanks!

Create a new top directory with a similar name such as TopDirectoryX
Then grab all the bottom directories and drag them to that new directory.
Then delete all the old directories, and rename the TopDirectory without the X or whatever....
