Bog standard European starlings, probably this year's if that's a recent photo. Declined in numbers by 70% in the UK over the last 20+ years, but still plentiful. Juveniles here are still brown in parts, and mob our feeders in large numbers.

Here is the dilemma . I shoot action sports, concerts/bands events and nature. I have a Nikon d810 and d7000 and I'm looking to replace the d7000. Here are two camera setups I'm mulling over. One : d500 gripped with sigma 8-16, 18-35 art and 50-100 art. I want the 1.8 f/stop for the low light work I do. Or The new Fuji X-T2 gripped with 10-24 f4 stabilized and 50-140 f/2.8 stabilized. I already have the Sigma 8-16 f/4.5-5.6 and Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 art. I'm asking this because I shoot bands a lot shooting super wide angle over my head using live view. I was told the Fuji will shoot much better with the back screen overhead because it shoots using phase detection.

Sports, nature- has to be the D500.

I love the term 'gripped with'. Never seen that before. Which part of the world does it come from?

We have one of each accumulated over a period of time...Sig 150-500 on a d5200...Tamron 150-600 on a d7100 and a 200-500 Nikkor on a d810.

The Sig amd the Tamron are both excellent lenses...and I dont think anyone would be disappointed all tho the Tam is very slightly slower to focus...But the Nikkor is slighlty better than both...its a monster on a FF...but you would be hard put to tell the difference in a print.

Edit: so if you see yourself upgrading to a full frame at some point it time get the Nikon 200-500

I couldn't agree more. Very pleased with a Tamron 150-600 on my D5300 (and D800), but if buying again, I'd get the Nikon 200-500. Any loss of reach is more than made up for by increased sharpness. The same applies to either Sigma 150-600. Amazing value for a Nikon.

You left off the biggest one of all at the moment, my candidate/your candidate/ their candidate.

I encounter this form of bias quite often when I bring up the Libertarian party and their candidate, Gary Johnson. Many folks I communicate with, or attempt to communicate with, aren't interested because they know what they know and that's the way it is and they're right and no one is going to tell them otherwise.

Is the glass half full or half empty?!

Actually a trick question, but most don't see or realize this. Unless the glass is in space or a vacuum, such as space, it is always full. It may contain half liquid or whatever, but the empty half isn't really empty, it just doesn't contain the same substance as the other half. A half a glass of water contain water and air, therefore, the entire volume of the glass is occupied by something, therefore the glass is full, not full of water but full none the less.

What were we talking about?!

You're absolutely right. The vast majority of people vote the same way their parents did, whatever 'their' party is actually doing. Caused problems here over the last 20 years, and will cause more as the 'Brexit' issue unfolds...

More importantly, you may cause marital problems over the 'glass half full' issue. I drive my dear wife nuts because I can never remember which denotes the optimistic or pessimistic view- as far as I'm concerned, the important word is 'half', so half full and half empty are the same. This additional issue could push her over the edge...

This subject provides one of the best examples of 'Confirmation bias', which all humans are prone to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias . Of course, there's always Canon/Nikon, Mirrorless/DSLR, Ford/GM, Our God/Your God/No God...

Two weeks ago, I was on a photo shoot. I was just setting up when "it" happened. I dropped my camera. When I heard the sound of glass breaking, I feared the worst, the lens. I got "lucky", I only lost my polarizer and uv filter. I was very happy it was not my wide angle lens. I had my lens cap on, but I guess it got knocked off the filters took the hit. I have always used a uv filter and now I am glad I use one.
Both filters will be replaced next week. I won't complain about the cost, because I could have been looking at a new lens.

Equally likely that if your filters had been in your bag, there would have been nothing needing replacing, like last time I dropped mine.

Picking up my last Camera this morning at 9 from a individual. Nikon D7200

Unless you know a good reason otherwise, the statistics give you a likely life expectancy of over 10 years. Very high odds that you'll outlive your D7200!

Thanks Again Graham. My version of Castle Hill, overlooking Huddersfield (last in your second series). Slightly different weather conditions. P&S 6 years ago- not the best photograph!

What was the event that drew the large crowd of onlookers?

The Tour de France 2014. The Grand Depart was in Yorkshire that year. I think the photo is Buttertubs Pass, deep in the Dales.

Thanks for posting, Graham. The first is very near Selside, where I first met the love of my life 41 years ago. Gulp! We're regular visitors of the Yorkshire Sculpture park too - number four.

I have not considered the D800. I will look at that body also. Thanks

That makes a lot of sense. Also worth looking at the Sigma 12-24 FX lens. A lot cheaper than Nikon's 14-24, not quite as good in the corners, but the extra 2mm can be useful, and I suspect D800 + Sigma 12-24 will be just as sharp as D750 + Nikon glass, and plenty good enough for your purposes.

Insurers make money out of customers. I've never in 43 years as an adult been better off for being insured. Therefore I only insure when I legally have to (motor, professional indemnity,) or where if I got it wrong, I could lose a life changing amount of money (so upgrade on the motor insurance in case I rear-end a Ferrari, house buildings and contents insurance.) The only exception is where I can add an item for little or no extra premium, such as photographic kit on house insurance.
Good luck, but the odds are in favour of Square Trade...

"just because its legal doesn't mean its right" also can be seen as "just because its illegal doesn't mean its wrong"

Sorry, no, that statement is completely illogical, making links that just aren't there.
