But if you don't post images 'some people' not a million miles away, suggest that your comments on photography have little value....

we all accept that an image on the net can be ripped off - Those that don't rarely complain and those that do feel hard done by....

have fun and to hell with the consequences

Africans do this by putting 'ever larger' rings in their ears...obviously surgery is quicker.

It seems the more women take on traditionally male roles the more males want to take on traditional female roles or 'cross' into feminine traits.

Media seems to be pushing this Gender homogeneity more and more. The advantages of being Male or Female is being eroded.....

By taking away traditional roles government not only doubled the work-force it saves on those 'exclusive' rights that gender allowed. In one generation 'the single family income' has gone.....child care has become an expensive industry....and 'family life together' has diminished as a result.

I've been very fortunate to have travelled to Newfoundland for the past three years. I will be catching the ferry on Sunday, to visit the Puffins.

I have taken hundreds of photos of these fascinating bird with some good result and some not so good!
Not that I am getting bored with them but I was wondering if you had any hints or tips that I should explore, to spice things up?

As you have said to one post - google puffin images and see 'what' makes a particular image stand out (Or be outstanding) and attempt to recreate it.

There is the technical....and then there is 'that certain something' that makes one image 'better' than the rest for each individual......(You). So look at other people's images till you find one that makes you question 'HOW'.....

We can learn from other people's work without it being 'a copy'.

The downside could well be - Photography 'as an art'. IF the camera software 'does everything' what is the point of it being a hobby. How would your images differ from someone else's.
Think of food - do you want a dish created by a high class and professional Chef or a 'throw it in a microwave' ready meal. Both might be quite tasty, but which is more satisfying and is your experience, unique.

Hobbies should give you things to learn and the satisfaction of learning them. Today...you can download just about 'any' image for your own personal use.....But we still buy fiddly cameras and aspire to take excellent images.

Never mind 'taste'......do you want a non photographing soft ware engineer deciding what your final image looks like?

Not all technological breakthroughs add 'value' to what people 'do.

Universities give credit to authors and contributor's for everything they 'use'. it is called a Bibliography or footnote. They do not buy every book they 'quote' and students rarely read all of the book they quote from.

Consider Art - would you expect every university to own all the great works....there would be only ONE....or a very short class!

Vintage in wine has to do with the quality of the grapes (and total production of grapes) in a particular year....not really to do with age....

Classic is generally 25 years since the last produced model....Obviously models change irregularly so theoretically you could buy 'the same' new for some things.

Antique is often placed on things a generation or longer ago 75 - 100 years. No longer produced 'in that factory or company' might be a point for some 'modern things' like furniture. The factory outlet is more important than age.(man made v machine assisted)

No-one has mentioned 'Curio'. Something that is defined as ageless...made at any time in the past but in very small numbers or for 'export' only. This would include things made for a specific person rather than 'limited editions'.

For cameras I suggest they have value for as long as the 'film or plate' can be found - or made in small numbers in the age when Photography was in its infancy. The 'oddities' rather than factory produced. A massed produced Zenith will only ever be of interest to 'those that remember using them' or a faithful 'collector' of 'every camera made'.

Marriage is about how you train them......or get trained.
As we have both been divorced before - we don't need a spade or diamonds. One day we might even decide who's Boss.

why not supply a small print with your name on, to be attached on the back of the canvas as your input to the inspiration. That way 'should it be worth millions' you will get some credit.

In this way the purchaser can decide how much was 'image' and how much is 'Art'.

Keep the original image as you might be asked to print it as a picture too.

With George Formby it was definitely a euformism. He was a cheeky little bugger.

We had a politician called Enoch Powell who was criticized for a speech he made. In it he used a phrase 'River's of Blood'. What most people do not know is that he was one of the first soldiers to enter Auschwitz. He learned first hand what a nation can do against another.
He was a leader in Birmingham and had experience of the 'Windward' migration of Black people into the UK. He recalled how Jews had created ghetto's as 'protection' and for cultural cohesion. Which ultimately made them into 'easy victims' for oppression.
He saw the Black people do the same for similar reasons at first and then by white culture encouraging the segregation of different peoples.
His speech was to warn the UK that without total integration across all peoples at every level, areas predominated by one 'colour' would recreate the problems that Jews experienced, of racial hatred. He saw the coming of 'rivers of blood' as black people became yet another victim by being 'different'.
He wasn't against Black people (as portrayed at the time) he was warning the country that by 'segregation' black people were not integrating and therefore would be blamed for all social ills.

Society always wants to point a finger at 'something'. Be it Social Housing estates, predominantly immigrant areas, religious and cultural differences. Congregating any of these produces tensions. Yet in most large towns and cities you still see the slow groupings of different ethnic or religious peoples. Tribalism at its most visible.

Society needs to stop highlighting 'difference'. People are people....!

Apparently the last upgrade stopped them working - replaced by Apple only when notified. They seem to be having quite a few problems since they replaced their R&D with a 'user group'.
