For the past few years, I been getting many emails about sending in photos to be shown or displayed for people of the world to look at. My question is, can I trust them?
Sorry if I don't trust people but I've been screwed over and that doesn't help my concerns.
Who's to say, they display a photo at my expense, then keep it for them to sell or create their own stock photography site?
A bunch the "contests" probably just charge you alot of cash just to fill their pockets. I figure a cheap "winner" would only win a 500 or so dollar camera which is likely to be payed by the first few people who get hook, then it's all profit. (Would that be called a scam or a racket?)
Like I eluded to before, I don't trust trust to many unknown people.

I recently posted on UFF an image of a Lion. No watermark that can be removed by a Pro.I got a message from a lady for permission to use it for her Church Bulletin. I a granted her use with the proviso she send me a copy of how my image will be used. I did not ask but she gave me credit for the image.

Agree. If you post consider it public property.
I recently posted on UHH a great picture of a LION that I took in a Out of Safari photo workshop. Some last IM me and asked if she could use it for her Church program. I granted her permission with the proviso she send me a copy. She even gave me credit for the image. An honest lady.

But if you don't post images 'some people' not a million miles away, suggest that your comments on photography have little value....
we all accept that an image on the net can be ripped off - Those that don't rarely complain and those that do feel hard done by....
have fun and to hell with the consequences
