1st thought: Yes, do it!
2nd thought: The i1 Display pro kit will also allow you to make your own custom paper ICC profiles. Short of paying $$$ for someone to make them for you this is the best you'll get. While the paper manufacturer's ICC profiles are very good the printers are not precisely and exactly alike.

Now. Do not waste your time unless you have a way to get a neutral surround about your monitor and a way to control (aka dim) ambient light in the room.

So does the SpyderX Studio system.

Jayne you need to go through some testing indoors on Thursday or Friday or Saturday with your equipment to see the lighting in the church. My goal would be 1/500 of a second at F16 with an ISO of 500-1000.
You will do great. Think positive. PM me with any concerns you have after you do your tests and look at your Histogram and exposures. You will do well.Stan
Goal is camera set up on tripod,

Top (normal) synch speed for the D810 is 1/250.

The way I understand it, and if I am wrong, I stand corrected. If you buy a camera in Germany, you cannot get a US warranty, so, in order to get warranted repairs, it would have to be shipped back to Germany.
Nikon, as far as I know, won't even repair an International(grey market)camera in the US, warranty, or not.

Unless you personally bought in Germany and then (personally) brought it in, along with the sales receipt. Then the German warranty would be valid and honored here.

I'm currently using a Glyph RAID storage drive for my photos but would like to get you guys and gals opinion on other RAID systems, preferably one with the ability to hot switch drives.

I use MediaSonic, been up and running (continuously) for more than 6 years. Just be sure to use "enterprise class"drives..

Based on UHH advice, I chose Affinity Photo as my processing software. It costs $30 but that's a one-time purchase price (includes upgrades), unlike the other major programs that require a monthly subscription fee. Affinity's capabilities are on par with those programs (Photoshop, Light Room, etc.), too. The free software I've seen offer only the most basic functions; probably no better than Window's.

The ProPhoto RGB covers the bulk of the color gamut (over 90% and essentially all of the "real-world" colors) while Adobe RGB covers about 50% and sRGB covers about 35%. ProPhoto RGB can be printed on some specialty printers, but the general issue is viewing images on a monitor displaying ProPhoto RGB. There are affordable monitors that can display sRGB and Adobe RGB. A few can display Wide Gamut RGB.

With the introduction of the 8K UHD displays, they have the ability to cover most of the ProPhoto RGB gamut. Still a bit pricy in the $2500+ range.

My question is if any of you have use an 8K UHD monitor to process images for ProPhoto RGB printing? If so, what results did you find please? The size of these 8K UHD displays starts at about 55". How did this huge size work out for your processing? Other related comments welcome too.

Thanks in advance.

Adobe RGB covers aproximately 90% + of the visible color spectrum, NOT 50%.....

Thank you both for the responses. I have looked at Canon refurbish and still about 3 c-notes above my budget, unfortunately. May look into B&H, have bought from them and adorama numerous times.

Thank you jerryc41 for bringing clarity to this inappropriate post... It is cavalier attitudes such as in the OP's post that reflects the rampart insensitivity of the American society to the horrific devastation being currently wreaked by covid19 on so many helpless souls... It is rather narrow minded to post a sick joke about one of the only effective countermeasure we have to halt the slaughter which in just several short months has killed more than 100,000 in the US in a most cruel way. To die alone without love ones near is an appalling wicked death...

Rathyatra my long time best friend is an ICU Nurse who is now assigned to the covid19 isolation ICU... She has to attend to patients who are ventilated (intubated) sedated on Propofol, fentanyl, and versed… also many have a lassix drip (Furosemide) running and combo antibiotics… they are on tube feeding… and she has to update their wife and/or love ones over the phone throughout the day... She is working 12 hour shifts in full protective gear breathing with PAPR (powered air-purifying respirator) and struggles valiantly to keep her patients alive... She is not alone... across our country are countless other ICU nurses are locked in a fierce battle against death... They risk it all every day...

And you are posting socially insensitive humor and ranting because you wife has a challenge with grocery shopping? Sorry Rathyatra but if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem... but then this is UHH (enough said)

Again many thanks jerryc41, it is UHH members such as you that makes time on this forum very worthwhile... I wish you all the best on your epic journey jerryc41... God speed...

You'll have to add 1-stop to any candidate lenses with an extender. Alas, your D3500 will lose autofocus if that extended combination reaches f/8 or smaller. Your budget seems a little low for a lens getting into the 500mm range, but take the suggestions and consider used options. If not already familiar, consider KEH.com as well as ebay, etc.

I got it when it first came out, and I liked it. I updated last year, and the newer version was so much better - and easier to use. Aside from making people look better, you can get a lot of very funny results by playing around with it. I was doing a lot of head shots for a local theater group, and it was perfect for that.

They also have a landscape version, but I haven't tried it.

They also have two more:

PortraitProBody and a "general purpose"editor, SmartPhotoStudio.

What it will ultimately come down to is price. ADOBE has ignored the consumers desire to keep costs down and continued to increase pricing each year with different marketing strategies. The pendulum swings and there will always be a new kind on the block. I don't believe ADOBE will hold its marketplace.

Isn't FIVE X too much ?
