That is one for your wall.
If you can try to get to Monument Valley. Not very far from Four Corners and you won't be disappointed.
I have the canon 430ex speedlite and I really like it. It's perfect for what I need.
Funny you should post that. I'm in the New Mexico/Arizona area now on the reservation with a work team. Should get a chance to get over to Canyon De Chelly myself. Usually get there once a year. Very nice photos.
Your floral pictures are absolutely beautiful. Kerry
I use mostly shutter priority. However, there are times I use manual. But I am extremely old school in that when I use manual, I also use a hand held exposure meter. This usually happens when the camera's setting doesn't give me the exposure that I wanted or I don't think it will before I start shooting. This is mainly on stationary subjects or outside portraits where I can get a reading up close. An example is, I wanted to take a photo of my front porch. The porch is covered and was in deep shadow on a bright sunny day. The exposure the camera used gave me a dark under exposed porch. I stood on the porch and took an exposure reading with my meter and the porch came out nicely. If the rest of the photo comes out over exposed then I also take a reading at a sunny spot outside the porch and use an average. It will still be closer to what I want than the camera's setting in many cases. I will say that I have taken readings to see if the camera's meter agrees with my exposure meter. Most of the time I will find the camera's exposure is among the choices on my exposure meter. Just my 2 cents.
Thank you all for your replies. And no, I have not been apart of many photography forums. Most of what I have learned has come from my dad who past away in 1980 and from talking to professionals when I can or on my own. I think I will gain a wealth of knowledge here that I would not otherwise have access to . Thanks again. Kerry
I am simply amazed at the quality of photos posted in the Gallery by people who consider themselves amatures. I clearly have a lot to learn even after all of these years. Very glad I found this forum. Looking forward to learning.
I am anything but a professional. But I think that someone who thinks chimping is unprofessional , especially at a wedding venue where if a mistake is found later and can not be corrected is a bit arrogant and may come back to bite them and there client some day.
Speaking of first cameras, my dad started me out on a Towerflex twin lens reflex camera that I believe was sold by Sears in 1964. I continued with a twin lens reflex until about 1999 when I finally realized a 35mm would be much easier to carry around. I then bought the Canon Elan 7 and a Canon Elan7n film cameras. I was very happy with both. Finally went digital in 2015 with my Canon 7D. Still have both 35mm's and my last twin lens reflex which is a Mamya C330. Don't know if I spelled that correctly.
Thank you. It was a quick shot without much thought before it disappeared.
I shot these on a spur of the moment. Canon 7D ISO 3200, Shutter 1/30, aperiture 5.6. Just grabbed my camera and shot them handheld.
