The canyons are pretty dark. Use a fairly fast lens and a wide angle. Adjust with your iso as best you can. The problem with a tripod can be that the floor in the canyons is very fine sand, and you'll find the feet sinking in, so be prepared for that. Search for a tour for photographers. These guides can be very helpful with photo advice, and regular tours frequently have too many people in the group and move too rapidly. The best time of day to shoot is around 11 or 12 o'clock, when the sun is more directly overhead, later it gets much darker in the canyons.
Thank you for such a complete response. I’ll try working on the wheel.
Not too long ago I bought a D60 (not a 60D) for a song. The large wheel on the back does not move freely,m and the screen on the back, which is tiny, has a yellow cast to it. other than that, everything seems to operate just fine. It came with a battery grip, charger and three batteries. I took it to the Canon repair facility in Costa Mesa and was told they didn't have parts for this elderly camera. Is there someplace that could fix these problems?

Use “The Weather Channel”. It gives the current weather conditions and forecasts for locations around the world. Very handy if you are traveling.
Thank you. The reset did the trick. I have no idea how things got out of whack.
All of a sudden my camera wouldn’t auto focus in anything but full auto mode. Just in time for my grandson’s 5th birthday party. I tried several lenses, but to no avail. Any ideas ?
This building looks like it is new. We visited their store in 2011, and it was much more humble. It did, however, have lots of free samples -yum.
I too took the river trip from Amsterdam to Budapest. I used my 70-200L with a 1.4 extender which worked well for shots of castles from the boat. For shots in some cathedrals, a fast wide angle is needed. I had my 24-105 with me, but in some cases it was just too slow.
The problem with the insurance is that at some point, our cameras in particular, are no longer available new, but have been discontinued and replaced with new models. I argued with my State Farm agent that my camera needed to be insured for the cost of the new model in case of theft or unreparable loss. He agreed, and I pay for the increased coverage.
If you have not already been there, the exhibit/store of Dale Chihuly, located next to the base of the space needle has some great photo opportunities inside and outside. A good choice on a rainy day. Look him up on google.
Bob, we had dunkin location opened in our city about a week ago. To say the least, I was greatly underwhelmed with their donuts. It appears the emphasis is on their coffee offerings. We will return to our local donut shops.
