I am heading and will be based in Seattle for the next three weeks. I will have a car and am looking for suggestions of places to shoot. I have already shot a lot of the city in previse trips and am looking for more scenic/nature day trips/hikes. I am looking at Rainier and Olympic State park. Other suggestion or specific spots. Also if anybody is interested in a meet up to shoot together I am game for.

You may want to consider going a little further north to British Columbia and drive to Whistler, BC. You will not be disappoint. There are plenty of beautiful scenery opportunities, along the way. Cheers. Btw, leave your guns at home. They are not allowed across the border.

Wanderer2 Loc: Colorado Rocky Mountains

The San Juan Islands, taking the ferry from Anacortes to Orcas Island, then Mount Constitution on Orcas, highest point in the Sand Juans. The last ferry stop is Friday Harbor on San Juan Island with lots of scenic spots on that island. Lime Kiln Lighthouse on the west side is one.

Stevens Pass in the Cascades has some nice scenery.

Get up early on a Saturday morning and go the Pike Place Market. Lots of photo opportunities and you can get a Starbucks coffee and baked goodies at Le Pan, too.

If you have time, drive to Mt. Vernon, about an hour north of Seattle and see the famous Tulip fields, they should be in full bloom. There is Roozengaarde and Tulip Town and close by is the town of La Conner situated on the waterfront where you can have a nice lunch or dinner. As for Mt Rainier, that may be too filled with snow, not to mention the fog and rain. It is not uncommon for Paradise to have 10 feet of snow the end of May. You can call the park rangers and they will advise. Another place to go is the Cedar Crest Grist Mill. Very scenic and located in Vancouver, Washington.

It is predicted to be wet the next couple of weeks, just be prepared. There should be some sun breaks now and then. There has been quite a bit of whale activity in the sound and Straits so if you get a chance you might look into that. The Hoh rainforest in Olympic National Park is always good but a bit wet. I don't know if Hurricane ridge is open but if so there are great views of Olympic NP and the surrounding area.

Blaster34 Loc: Florida Treasure Coast

Concur on the previous recommendation of the Ho Rainforest in the ONP. Deception Pass on the road to Whidby Island is a really nice spot, take the boat ride, and as previously recommended, the Ferries out of Anacortes to the San Juan Islands are great. HWY 20 east out of Mt Vernon to North Cascades NP is also another great route. Could be cold, wet & rainy no matter where you go, just be prepared.....practice safe photography, use protection for your camera.

Weather permitting, you might want to go a few miles east to North Bend and climb Mt. Si. Not really mountain climbing, there is a trail that goes to the top. Some nice scenery etc. along the way.

gvarner Loc: Central Oregon Coast

Rainier and Olympic are national parks. tinier would give you a great long day trip to drive around the mountain. Pick a nice day. Be sure to go up to Longmire and Sunrise, they're both side trips to the upper alpine areas. You can circle most of the mountain north to south to west, or reverse, in a good long day. A day trip to Hurricane Ridge in the Olympics puts you on top of the world, an easy drive.
